I got talking to this dude who was an ex NPC bodybuilder and some how got on body fat he said he thought i was probably around 15% seems kinda low to me though he said I seem to hold alot of water iono why he seemed to think that.

any other guesses, anybody know of any good scale or hand held device that is decently accurate?

I'd say low 20's also.

tony, do you have a scale that lets you input "male," "female" or "athlete?"  You should input "athlete" and it may be a bit more accurate.

Looks to be around 17%.  Hydration levels make a big difference with those scales.

You can use the measuring tape (circumference) method that the military uses to get a good estimate of your bodyfat. It's cheap and simple. From what I've read, it compared favorably with (and the calculation is based on) results done with the hydrostatic testing method.

http://usmilitary.about.com/od/theorderlyroom/a/bodyfat.htm

Here are some corresponding height charts to estimate your bodyfat, which should cover you, unless you're over 6'3".

Men, 5'5" - 5'91/2" tall:

http://usmilitary.about.com/library/milinfo/blbodyfatmale2.htm

Men, 5'10" - 6'3" tall.

http://usmilitary.about.com/library/milinfo/blbodyfatmale3.htm

You can print the charts OR use this electronic tool to help you out:

http://www.navygirl.org/downloads/PFA.exe (http://www.navygirl.org/downloads/PFA.exe)

Once you download it, here's how you use it:

1. Click to "BCA CALCULATOR" and "MALE".
2. Enter your height (in inches)
3. Enter your neck measurement (rounded UP to the nearest 1/2 inch).
4. Enter your waist measurement (rounded DOWN to the nearest 1/2 inch).
5. Hit "EXECUTE". Your BCA or bodyfat estimate will be the lower right hand corner, seen in RED.

thanks L ya i used to compete in this type of wrestling in which i always had to watch my weight and my friend had a scale like mine and we figured out that the if you did it right when you got out of the shower you had less body fat as well(wet feet) and after practice always higher(dehydrated).

I try to always do it either in the morning or before bed to get the best accuracy from weigh in to weigh in but i fear this scale just blows in general  :-[

Have you had the chance to use the circumference method to estimate your bodyfat level, yet?

30-40 percent seems about right.

You need to lose about 60-70 lbs at least to be ripped.  Maybe a tad more.

Not joking you look to be in the low 20% range.  Trimming those abs with cardio and crunches would really make you a contender.  Nice arms

I'm trying this HIIT cardio, that MuscleMag seems to be touting in this month's magazine. It's when you use your rest periods to do certain "lighter" exercises (i.e. jumping rope, bicycle crunch, running/jogging on treadmill, etc.) for 60 seconds, between major exercises.

MuscleMag calls it "Ripped-Rest Time".

BTW, did you tape yourself, yet? What was the result?

I just had my bodyfat done (via the circumference method) and BOY, AM I IN A GOOD MOOD!!!

Right now, I'm at 232 @ 20% bodyfat. That's the lowest I've ever been when my bodyweight has exceeded 230 lbs.

If I can get it down to 17-18% (while staying at or above 230, before Christmas) I'm in business!!

You're welcome, Tony.

Spending lots of money on bodyfat testing doesn't seem like the best of moves to me, especially since the formula used for this method is based on hydrostatic testing, anyway.
