Solidcore gym founder calls out Ivanka Trump after workout
By ANNA GIARITELLI (@ANNA_GIARITELLI)
Updated: 02/10/17

The owner of trendy Washington-area gym chain Solidcore lashed out at Ivanka Trump over Facebook on Thursday after finding out the president's eldest daughter took her exercise class.

"What you do when you find out Ivanka Trump just took [Solidcore], but used an alias to sign up for class? You reach out and ask for a meeting," wrote Anne Mahlum, founder of Solidcore.

"While I don't know her and I always seek to understand ... I do know her father is threatening the rights of many of my beloved clients and coaches and as a business owner, I take my responsibility to protect and fight for my people very seriously."

Mahlum's original Facebook post was no longer visible as of Friday afternoon.

Mahlum opened her first Solidcore gym in 2013 and has since expanded throughout the D.C., Maryland and Virginia region, and throughout the country. As of late 2016, Solidcore employed 16 full-time employees and more than 100 part-time employees and contractors.

Ivanka Trump had been laying relatively low since moving to Washington with her husband, Jared Kushner, and three children, until this week when her father's administration took up her cause after Nordstrom dropped her clothing line.

President Trump first tweeted Wednesday that Nordstrom had treated his daughter "so unfairly," repeating the message across his social media platforms and raising initial ethics concerns. Nordstrom cited poor sales in announcing its decision, which also came after customer complaints about the brand's association with the Republican president.

Asked about the president's statement on TV Thursday morning, Trump senior adviser Kellyanne Conway said she does "find it ironic that you've got some executives all over the Internet bragging about what they've done to her and her line … to get to him."

"Go buy Ivanka's stuff is what I would tell you ... I hate shopping, I'm going to go get some myself today," Conway said. "This is just a wonderful line. I own some of it. I fully — I'm going to give a free commercial here. Go buy it today, everybody. You can find it online."

Conway's statement caused an immediate uproar for appearing to blatantly violate federal ethics standards for encouraging consumers to financially support a private sector business. Late Thursday, the House Ethics Committee called for an ethics review.

Ivanka Trump has not issued a statement on the fallout.

Thanks for reminding everyone of Conways blatant ethics violation

It's easy to forget this stuff given how many scandals are happening on a daily basis with this train wreck of an administration

Because he's one of the wealthiest persons on the planet?

Until he provides his tax returns. Let's assume he is very wealthy. How do you think he got his money? Most, if not all of the filthy rich, did this on the backs of the rest of us. Trump got a head start thanks to pops.

His tax returns are not going to tell you about his net worth.  We already know his net worth is in the billions and that he's one of the wealthiest men on earth.

He got his money by earning it.  He definitely had a head start with the money he got from his dad, but he turned that into a billion dollar empire with one of the most recognizable brands on the planet.  Not everyone who inherits money becomes an enormously successful billionaire.

Your statement about the "filthy rich" making their money "on the backs of the rest of us" is pure fantasy.  Where are you getting that from?

Melania Trump attacked for reciting 'The Lord's Prayer' at campaign rally
Published February 19, 2017

Leftists on social media tore into First Lady Melania Trump, mocking her accent and religion and branding her everything from a hostage to a whore – all for the secular offense of reciting “The Lord’s Prayer.”

Melania Trump began President Trump’s rally Saturday in Florida by delivering the prayer, which Christians – many of whom recite the prayer in church each week – believe was first said by Jesus Christ. The crowd at Orlando-Melbourne Airport received the prayer enthusiastically.

Left-leaning social media users were a different story, however.

“Melania starts the dictatorship rally with the Lord’s Prayer? NOT EVERY AMERICAN IS CHRISTIAN!!!! Country over party,” tweeted @JaimePrimak.

Several Twitter users harkened to the controversy over Melania Trump plagiarizing a section of her Republican National Convention speech from a previous speech given by former First Lady Michelle Obama.

“At least this time Melania plagerzed [sic] the Lord’s Prayer from the Bible instead of Michelle Obama. #TrumpRally,” @ParaComedian09 wrote.

Noticing that Melania appeared to read the prayer from a sheet, some questioned the degree of Trump’s religious devotion, with many deriding the Slovenian immigrant’s accent.

“With an hour’s practice I could probably say the Lord’s Prayer better in Slovene than Melania Trump does it in English,” @adrianshort wrote.

@NicoleAngeleen tweeted: “I could recite the Our Father backwards, drugged with a gun to my head. If you need to read this prayer, you’re not Christian (re: Melania).”

“God Bless her, but listening to Melania do 'The Lord’s Prayer' sounds like someone getting cursed to become a 'Dracula,'@carnojoe wrote.

And a few Twitter users even attacked Melania personally.

“….plus Melania read the ‘our father’ like a whore in confession after a night of escorting,” @TrumpUriNation tweeted.

I could check the dates for you, but I won't. If I remember correctly, they occurred over a period of time. I believe some have been settled, but not in Trump's favor. I stand by my comment that while Trump claims to champion the working stiffs, he's taking advantage of them. Which person among his cabinet picks comes from the middle class?

You seem to be looking for excuses that explain away his notoriously illegal business practices. You will believe what you choose, whether it is founded in truth or not. Until he gets shot down, he's on his way to being the first dictator in the history of the U.S.

There are examples when "The church" has had all the power and wealth.  If you're going to recite the Lord's prayer at political rally, you should acknowledge all faiths. This is an example why it's not advisable nor legal (according to the U.S. Constitution) to mix church and state.

I saw her reciting the Lord's prayer and thought nothing was wrong with that.
I'm not a religious man, but have no problems with her prayer or reciting scripture.

The liberal left is going to find ANY way possible to pick apart "team Trump".
There are ore then enough serious issues to be critical of him on.
Having his lovely wife, opening with a classic biblical prayer isn't one of 'em.

LOL, and some wonder why I call myself an independent.  ;)

Are you suggesting we should dispense with the first amendment of the Constitution of the United States?

This has nothing to do with church/state separation.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with what she did.  It's no different than the U.S. Senate Chaplain having prayer before a legislative session.

If he means this than he should also acknowledge that at least some of those jobs Trump created employed illegal immigrants, below minimum wage employees as well as the employees he stiffed.

It looks to me like this conversation has gone full circle.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with what she did.  It's no different than the U.S. Senate Chaplain having prayer before a legislative session.

Thank you for your opinion. Tell this to a Muslim, Atheist, or Buddhist etc. A prayer not associated with one particular faith would have been more appropriate. Apparently, you've not heard or read the prayers that are said at legislative opening sessions. http://chaplain.house.gov/archive/index.html?id=2467

For example:

01/28/2016

Reverend Dr. Kurt Gerhard

O merciful God, be with these United States and especially with the elected Representatives of this 114th Congress. As they debate and vote on legislation that will determine the future path of this country, open their hearts and minds to the needs of all people, but make them especially aware of those who are ignored or forgotten, the downtrodden and marginalized, those among our citizenry whose voices and needs are overwhelmed by the noisy clamor of the world because it is these people who most need the representation and leadership of this House.

We ask this all in the name of the one God: the Creator, redeemer, and sustainer of every nation.

Amen.

The First Lady is not known for originality when addressing an audience. Maybe the Lord's Prayer is all she knows or could come up with. Where are her advisors anyway?

Why do I need to tell it to them?  Nothing is stopping them from praying.  We don't have to try and avoid hurting people's feelings.  Prayer is part of the fabric of our society.  People don't have to be muzzled because some hypersensitive person gets offended when they hear a Christian prayer.
