This comprises 98% of the male population. 2% of the male population, conversely, women consider handsome, gorgeous, beautiful, etc. That 98% of men ,who are homely/ugly, are damned to a life of celibacy UNLESS they can convince some nice gal to marry them. These are the men who SHOULD marry. For if they DON'T marry, they will seldom if ever get laid for free. And when they do cough up the money for an escort, she is usually so turned off she can barely hide her disgust. The sex is ice cold and unsatisfactory. These men need to stake their claim of a an average looking female early, marry and lock her down with offspring. Otherwise they will grow old and alone and watch happy couples from the sidelines.
The remaining 2% of men (see chart) are the genetic lottery winners. The men with the prominent, chiseled jaw line. The high cheekbones. The aesthetic eyes. The straight, white teeth. The tall, naturally mesomorphic physique. And, of course, a full head of lush hair. These are the alpha males the Universe rewards for their looks. Doors open easily. These are the pro athletes, the entertainers, the CEOs, the high powered attorneys, the venture capitalists, etc. These men need not marry. These are the men who women merely glance at and go into heat. These men need no "game", for women throw themselves at this elite group. The idea of this caliber of man settling down with any one woman is preposterous. Men like this are born to pleasure a vast sea of women.

Let me just add that regardless of LOOKS, most men allow "traditional roles" to enter an unbalanced relationship / marriage.
I'd also suggest using compliments about her looks and being sexy to help endear her to you. 

1. Most women want to marry a man with a "good career" ie makes $$$. Ok fine, but more men
should consider what their future wife brings to the table. It's hard to be equal partners, when
the man is the one making most of the $$.

2. If you want children, that makes a drastic change in the marriage dynamic.
If value being a dad,  you also need to embrace the demands that go with it.
