Matt's crew from Thunder Bay visited Shaw.
At 8:10 Shaw does 445 (BNPP) Behind Neck Push Press:
Haha, wow - I didn't catch this.
You know - for literally every year from within one year when I started training, I could accurately claim that I was stronger than every woman in my city.
Now with Sam Beliveau, I can no longer say that. I know I have more upper body strength than her - and that disparity will only increase significantly as I get my bench back to the 325-345 range, but I honestly don't think I'd beat Sam in a balanced Strongman contest right now.
To be fair, she is
Canada's Strongest Woman right now, the literal
female world record holder for Circus Dumbbell, where she hit 185-lb for a max single, and I am assuming she does some strong supplements, but regardless - it's been a bit of a psychological gamechanger for me to know that a woman is stronger than me.
I feel like I really SHOULD be stronger than any woman.
I feel like if you are even a below average male athlete in a given sport, you should be stronger than even the state and national level women.
That being said - Sam is one of the strongest women
in the world.
Max is only ten blocks away from - it's nice to have a top three world level Strongman that close by.
Once max out my muscle memory, I think I will go see if he can take me to a bit higher of a level. I don't I can deadlift 550 at 175...but I bet I could do it if I brought my weight up to 190-200.
And I'm certain Max could help me.
I worry about Max's health, but he is legitimately the hardest working athlete I've ever personally met. This dude is just a complete workhorse. I'm glad he moved to Thunder Bay, from Kapuskasing.
