They are- I do them routinely. But  if you don't do anything else you get a wildly unbalanced physique.

Yes, you have to train legs too.

Dips (or pushups), chins and bodyweight squats are all a person needs.  Everything else is a bonus.

I'd love to see real life proof of that. Not giving you are hard time- just want to see what is achieved by someone who who had done  just those three exercises.

And don't say gymnasts- because a lot of guys in my high school who were gymnasts also weight trained.

Why are male gymnasts so jacked?  They do not use progressive resistance.
Try doing what they do and you'll understand why

There's a whole industry designed just for guys who only train bodyweight exercises.  Pushups work all the pushing muscles of the upper body and pullups work all of the pulling muscles.  Bodyweight squats work the legs.  Go to Youtube and look up videos of 30 day, 60 day and 90 day pushup transformations.

Many wrestlers, boxers and other athletes did only bodyweight exercises.  The Great Gamma did bodyweight exercises and swung a club.

Dragon Door Publishing prints many books that deal with just bodyweight exercises.

Sooner or later you will not get any stronger............what then?

If we kept always getting stronger we`d all be benching 1000 pounds so you sir are incorrect.

You have great genetics though.

You have great genetics though.

You carry a baby giraffe every day and gradually it grows into an adult giraffe.

No equipment necessary.

Ty sir my genetics are alright I guess, but yes we do get stronger but I see what you are saying, I don't see any human ever bench pressing 1000 lbs raw

Look, I'm not saying we have to train like powerlifters, but I'd be fooling myself is now as a natty I could just go to the gym and ''pump up'' and make gains, it's not gonna happen, for me to make gains I need to improve my bench, my squat and my deadlift, there's no way around, and yes we can all do this with 10+ reps, no need to do singles, doubles or triples. Gaining weight is important, if you haven't gained any weight in a year chances are you didn't gain any muscle

Let's put this gymnasts myth to bed- Almost all male Olympic gymnasts over the past 60 years weighed in at a whopping 150 pounds or less- and most averaged 130 pounds. Not exactly earth shattering muscle mass, lol. And yet they still do weight training...

Most are short and have very little bodyfat so of course they aren't going to weigh a lot.  How many natural trainers that you know weigh 200 pounds with low bodyfat?

The gymnasts that lift weights usually just do a couple exercises to supplement there shoulder strength.  They do not train their whole body with weights and many don't lift weights at all.
