That statistic, merely points out those who were affluent enough to own slaves, not those who desire them. It is a statistic, designed to be posted on social media by below average intelligence people (who then might start suppress contrary opinions with "retard" jibes) who mistakenly fall into the trap that they have themselves a smoking gun against the idea that white people aren't racist or that "it wasn't that bad".
And in fact, it neither confirms or denies this, since we cannot estimate how many of the population would have preferred to keep slaves, had they the means - or indeed, why they did not have slaves, either (ie, perhaps it wasn't affluence - but then, you do have to feed humans, so that seems likely).
In short, thanks for fucking posting the type of bullshit that through having no facebook, I generally manage to avoid ::)

But, to get back to the issue- could the average white person be held accountable for slavery in the US? I find this discussion interesting:

It seems to me that there is a collective responsibility for slavery in the US. This is not surprising if you read even "liberal" texts from 1800 to 1900- racism was almost uncontroversial and implicit in the texts.
Accountability should include a discussion about attitudes and legislation.

Slaves in the americas were allowed to get married and have children. African slaves captured by muslims were castrated and the few negro babies born were killed at birth.
That's what the religion of peace did for centuries before and after americas slave trade.

Well, that means 100% are up shit creek...no one alive today who owned slaves...or who were slaves.
But if it wasn't for the past fact of slavery, Blacks wouldn't have a good excuse for hating whites.
I personally don't ever hear Jewish people talking or marching around saying they were killed by the millions during the early 1940's and I don't hear very often American natives saying we all stole their land, but blacks complain constantly about slavery and it seems like that's always a topic of choice.
My own advice: You were never a slave. No one you know or have known was ever a slave.
The fact there were slaves is of little consequence to you, just like owning slaves has ZERO bearing on my life...stop talking about the shit that happened 200 years ago and focus on bettering yourself today.

And, here is a little secret for ya. Whatever your mind focuses on during the day, is the reality you will experience in life. If you think about how the white man is the cause for every problem you every had then that's the experience you will have every day of your life...FACT !!!!!

Bottom line is no American ever ENSLAVED anyone....they bought slaves...from Africa..Africans enslaved their own people and sold them as currency around the world until the US and others banned slavery. Africa would still be doing it if whitey was still buying....

In the south, rich people owned slaves. In the north rich people rented slaves. Black southern slaves were relatively well cared for bc the were valuable property. In the north, Irish slaves died by the handfuls in tenements and industrial "accidents."
Abe Lincoln was a railway lawyer who wanted to open up the south for big business interests, freeing the slaves was an afterthought.
