Muslim College Student Who Lied About Trump Supporters Attacking Her On NY Subway Pleads Guilty

On Friday, Yasmin Seweid, 19, the Muslim college student at Baruch College who lied to police, telling them she had been harassed on the New York subway by white men who attempted to seize her hijab, pleaded guilty to falsely reporting an incident and disorderly conduct.
Seweid had claimed the incident occurred on the No. 6 train on Dec. 1, 2016. She told The New York Daily News that three drunk white men screamed “Donald Trump!” and hurled anti-Islam slurs at her, then tried to rip her hijab off of her head. She stated, “I heard them say something very loudly, something about Donald Trump ... I also heard them say the word terrorist and I sort of got a little scared.” She added that they said, “Oh look, a (expletive) terrorist … Get the hell out of the country! You don’t belong here!” She said when she tried to ignore them, they pulled on her bag to get her attention and the strap broke. “That’s when I turned around and said ‘can you please leave me alone,’ and they started laughing,” she said.
Her story continued that she walked to the other end of the train; the men followed her and tried to pull off her hijab, yelling, “Take that thing off!” She said, “I put my hand on top of my head to hold it. Then I turned around and screamed ‘what the (expletive).’”
Seweid also took a swipe at President-elect Donald Trump, commenting, “The president-elect just promotes this stuff and is very anti-Muslim, very Islamophobic, and he’s just condoning it.”
Seweid’s father, informed of the supposed incident, said, “Nobody even offered to help an 18-year-old girl. That means something. Her phone was dying. You offer help — it doesn’t matter the race, religion, or the country.”
Days later, Seweid went missing, prompting a search for her.
Seweid was arrested on December 14 on charges of filing a false report and obstructing governmental administration. Police sources stated Seweid lied because she didn’t want to get in trouble for breaking her curfew after being out late drinking with friends.
In court, Seweid wrote an apology that was read by the prosecutor that read, "I was stupid. I plan to continue to find ways to better myself." She had already stated that she wasted police resources when she made the claim, which she made because she had missed her family’s curfew.
Seweid must take six months of counseling and complete three days of community service.

Actor Jussie Smollett arrived in Chicago on Monday night. He was out to get fast food at 2 a.m. when he was allegedly attacked by two Trump supporters in MAGA hats who recognized him in the freezing cold, beat him, poured bleach on him and put a noose around his neck.
It was -15 to -30 degrees wind chill on Tuesday morning.

Now this… The Associated Press reported that police had released images of “persons of interest” from surveillance camera footage, but were unable to find footage of Smollett being attacked. The persons depicted in the police release were said to be walking away from the scene prior to 1:45AM.

CHICAGO -- Chicago police confirmed Thursday that detectives are talking to two persons of interest in connection with the alleged attack on "Empire" actor Jussie Smollett.
Multiple sources have told ABC7 Eyewitness News that police are investigating whether Smollett and the two men staged the attack allegedly because Smollett was being written off of "Empire."
A source familiar with the investigation told the ABC7 I-Team that Smollett failed to appear for an interview with detectives earlier Thursday.
A source briefed on the Smollett investigation confirmed to ABC News that Chicago police are questioning the two persons of interest -- one of whom has appeared on "Empire."
The law enforcement official also told ABC News that the homes of the persons of interest were raided Wednesday night. Police removed shoes, electronic devices and other items they believe could help them they determine if the two people played any role in the assault from those homes.
Chicago police said they "cannot confirm any of those reports." No charges have been filed.
Earlier, police said the two persons of interest are not suspects and have not been charged. Investigators are only talking with them at this time. The two were picked up Wednesday night at O'Hare International Airport, police said.
Smollett said he was attacked around 2 a.m. on Jan. 29 in the 300-block of East North Water Street in Chicago's Streeterville neighborhood. He told police two masked men shouted homophobic slurs at him, attacked him, put a rope around his neck and poured a liquid on him that smelled like bleach.
Smollett, 36, is black and openly gay.
Jussie Smollett sat down with Robin Roberts for an exclusive interview on "Good Morning America."
Police said they have not found surveillance video that shows the attack. But earlier in the investigation, they did release grainy surveillance images of two possible persons of interest. The photos show two silhouettes on New Street near Illinois Street between 1:30 a.m. and 1:45 a.m. on Jan. 29.
In a statement released Thursday, police said they identified the two people in the surveillance photos and tracked them down using cameras, public transportation records and corroborating info provided by Smollett.
Smollett spoke exclusively with Robin Roberts on "Good Morning America" Thursday. He reflected on what happened to him that morning and what has happened to him since.
"It's the attackers, but also the attacks," he said, adding of those who don't believe his story, "It's not necessarily that you don't believe that this is the truth, you don't even want to see the truth."
Anthony Guglielmi, spokesman for Chicago Police Department, said earlier Thursday morning that he watched the GMA interview with CPD Superintendent Eddie Johnson. Guglielmi said Smollett's comments on GMA are consistent with what he's told Chicago police. Unfortunately, police have no solid evidence to arrest anyone at this time.
The investigation is ongoing.

The two Nigerian brothers arrested in connection with the assault on "Empire" actor Jussie Smollett are no longer suspects in the attack. They're now cooperating with police.
A source close to the investigation confirms to CBS News the brothers told detectives Smollett paid them to participate in the alleged attack on January 29 and that they purchased the rope — which was found around Smollett's neck — at a nearby hardware store. The source said detectives have evidence to corroborate the sale, something the men's attorney alluded to Friday night.
"New evidence that was brought to their attention, obviously I had it, my clients had it," said Gloria Schmidt, the brothers' attorney.
The Chicago Police Department released a statement Saturday night saying information from the brothers had "shifted the trajectory of the investigation."
"We can confirm that the information received from the individuals questioned by police earlier in the Empire case has in fact shifted the trajectory of the investigation. We've reached out to the Empire cast member's attorney to request a follow-up interview."
Smollett's attorneys, Todd S. Pugh and Victor P. Henderson, issued a statement late Saturday saying Smollett was "angered and devastated" by reports that he knew the people associated with the alleged attack.
"One of these purported suspects was Jussie's personal trainer who he hired to ready him physically for a music video. It is impossible to believe that this person could have played a role in the crime against Jussie or would falsely claim Jussie's complicity," the statement said.
The attorneys said the actor would continue to cooperate with authorities as the investigation continues. "At the present time, Jussie and his attorneys have no inclination to respond to 'unnamed' sources inside of the investigation, but will continue discussions through official channels," the statement said.
Police said the two men — identified as Ola and Abel Osundairo — were captured on surveillance video at the time that Smollett said he was attacked.
Ola Osundairo is connected to Smollett through the hit show "Empire" where he played a prisoner in season two.
Both brothers apparently left Chicago on the day of the alleged attack and were detained when they returned Wednesday. Chicago detectives tore through their apartment looking for clues, and an evidence log shows they found ropes, masks and bleach. They were released Friday night without charges.
A Chicago Police Department spokesperson said "detectives have additional investigative work to complete."
In a recent interview with "Good Morning America," Smollett said he was sure the men in the photo were his attackers.
"And then I see the attacker, masked. And he said, 'This is MAGA country, n*****.' Punches me right in the face. So, I punched his ass back," Smollett said. "I think what people need to hear is just the truth."
Smollett has not spoken publicly about the arrest and subsequent release of the two brothers. Earlier this week, Chicago police said Smollett was still being treated as a victim, not a suspect.

FBI Investigating Whether Jussie Smollett Involved in Sending Hate Letter to Himself

Federal law enforcement officials are investigating whether actor-singer Jussie Smollett was involved in sending a threatening letter to himself at Empire’s Chicago studio before allegedly staging a racist and homophobic attack on himself last month, according to a report.
According to ABC News, FBI and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service officials are probing the matter after two Nigerian brothers said to have helped stage the attack accused Smollett of playing a role in sending the letter. Further, ABC News reports that the letter, mailed to the studio on January 22, is undergoing an FBI crime lab analysis.

The development follows reports that Smollett “concocted” the “staged” assault after the letter failed to garner a “bigger reaction.”
“When the letter didn’t get enough attention, he concocted the staged attack,” a source told CBS 2’s Brad Edwards.
The letter reportedly contained a message which read “Die Black fag” and “white powder,” which was later determined to be crushed aspirin.
Chicago police spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi confirmed to CNN that a HAZMAT team scrambled to Cinespace Studios, where the program was being shot, upon the letter’s discovery.
Chicago police are seeking to re-question Smollett amid reports that he “orchestrated” the attack with Abimbola “Abel” and Olabinjo “Ola” Osundairo, who were extras on Empire. “There are no plans for Jussie Smollett to meet with Chicago police today,” Anna Kavanagh, a press representative for Smollett, said in a statement. “Any news reports suggesting otherwise are inaccurate. Smollett’s attorneys will keep an active dialogue going with Chicago police on his behalf. We have no further comment today.”
Smollett, who is gay and African-American, told police that two masked individuals doused him with an unknown chemical substance as they hurled racist and anti-gay insults on January 29. The actor also told police that his assailants looped a thin rope around his neck and yelled “This is MAGA country!” before darting off.
In a statement to ABC News, Smollett’s lawyers said their client was “angered” and “further victimized” by reports that planned the alleged assault.
“As a victim of a hate crime who has cooperated with the police investigation, Jussie Smollett is angered and devastated by recent reports that the perpetrators are individuals he is familiar with,” Smollett’s lawyers, Todd Pugh and Victor Henderson, told ABC News. “He has now been further victimized by claims attributed to these alleged perpetrators that Jussie played a role in his own attack. Nothing is further from the truth and anyone claiming otherwise is lying.”

The statement came after CBS Chicago’s Charlie De Mar reported that at least one of the brothers bought the rope at Craft Beaver hardware store the weekend of January 25th. The rope was purchased at the direction of Smollett, who paid $3,500 and promised an additional $500 later, according to De Mar.
Smollett could get between one to three years in prison if he is found to have filed a false report with the Chicago Police, per Illinois State law.
Meanwhile, the Fox Broadcasting Company, the network that airs Empire, will reportedly keep Smollett on as a series regular.
“Jussie was supposed to have 9 scenes and a big musical number in the second to the last episode — which is being shot now — but, 5 of his scenes have been cut, and his musical number has been 86’d,” according to TMZ.

Three white boys held down an African American girl and cut her hair at recess, and somehow, it’s Karen Pence’s fault.
Oh, except it didn’t actually happen. And in fact, the story was pretty fishy right from the beginning, and people should have known.
First, an accusation was made by a black female student at Immanuel Christian School in Virginia. She alleged that three white boys had held her down at recess, insulted her, and cut her dreadlocks off with scissors.
This alleged incident supposedly happened at Immanuel Christian, a private Christian school where Second Lady Karen Pence happens to teach. Somehow, outlets decided not only that this story was credible but also that Pence's tangential involvement was relevant to the coverage.
“SIXTH GRADERS HOLD DOWN CLASSMATE, CUT HER DREADLOCKS AT PRIVATE CHRISTIAN SCHOOL WHERE KAREN PENCE TEACHES,” the screaming headline at Newsweek read. Similar headlines implicated Karen Pence in the incident at left-wing outlets ranging from NBC News to the Advocate.
But stop and think about this for a second: Even if you took the accusation completely at face value, and assumed it happened, what on Earth does that actually have to do with Karen Pence? How is mentioning her name even remotely relevant? The only possible interpretation is that she is somehow responsible, or that the Second Lady contributes to an environment of “hate” that makes these sorts of incidents more likely to happen.
This is liberal media bias at its worst: If Michelle Obama or Jill Biden had volunteered at a school where a crime or some bullying happened to take place later, no news outlet worth its salt would even have reported it as if the two were connected.
So this viral story smear of Karen Pence was pretty bogus from the beginning, in that the media’s framing of it was extremely disingenuous. But as it turns out, it never even actually happened.
The Washington Post reports that the girl in question has admitted she made the incident up and that her accusations were false. Her family has issued a formal apology and retracted the accusation. The school has now acknowledged the fabrication as well.
Why, then, was it originally reported with such blind acceptance and an utter absence of critical thinking? Because, similar to the Jussie Smollett hoax, it suited the liberal media’s narrative: That America is an evil, racist country, and the Trump administration can in some way be blamed for incidents of hate.
The connection is extremely weak? So what. The story turns out not to be true? Shoulder shrug. The left-wing media outlets in question might update their stories. A few will even probably issue retractions. But they’ll still all do the same thing next time a story like this rolls around.

Second, I don't think Wallace is to blame either. It IS a straight up noose tied rope. The issue is that it had been there for a long time, well before he got there. It looks like someone was just tied the garage door rope in that fashion.

I follow nascar less than I follow the NBA, and I don’t know which NBA team won the last world series superbowl heavyweight championship.
I just believe that nascar has never had any issue like this and threw their hands up, allowing whatever agency to investigate.

We're going to have to disagree here. It's just a loop tied in the end of a rope to grab onto to close the door. Absolutely no intentions of being a noose or even intending to look like a noose.

Man arrested for spray-painting swastikas at Providence College

Providence Police have identified the man they say spray-painted swastikas on gravestones at Providence College on Monday night.
According to police, Keveon Gomera, 26, was charged with vandalism and assault with intent to commit a felony.
Police say Gomera spray-painted swastikas, defaced multiple gravestones, then attempted to set a grass area on fire at the Dominican Cemetery on campus. According to a spokesperson for Providence College, the central cross and seven headstones were defaced. Providence College has repaired the damage.
While a college public safety officer tried to question the suspect, Gomera struck one officer in the head and ran away, according to police. The officer was treated for his injuries at the hospital and later released.
The campus was locked down with a shelter in place order once it was confirmed that the suspect may have been hiding on campus, according to Steven Maurano, a spokesperson for Providence College.
The Providence Police Department said over a dozen police officers searched for Gomera, until they found him hiding in shrubs on campus.

An Oregon man gunning for a seat at the political table has joined the ranks of now notorious hate crime ‘hoaxers’ Jussie Smollett and Bubba Wallace.
A Hispanic candidate for an Oregon county commission seat has admitted he faked a ‘racist’ letter to himself, though he now says he never meant to “mislead” anyone.
Jonathan Lopez, who ran an unsuccessful primary campaign for a seat on the Umatilla County commission in May, had initially claimed that a racially-tinged letter had been left in his mailbox.
But in an email to the press on Monday, Hermiston Police Chief Jason Edmiston said Lopez admitted to law enforcement that he wrote the letter.
The chief added that the case would be turned over to the district attorney’s office to decide whether to prosecute Lopez for filing a false police report, which is a Class A misdemeanor in the state.
“From the onset, this alleged incident has been thoroughly investigated,” Edmiston wrote in an email to the Lagrand Observer. “Our investigation has shown that Mr. Lopez wrote the letter himself and made false statements to the police and on social media. The end result is a verbal and written admission by Mr. Lopez that the letter was fabricated.”
Lopez, one of five candidates who ran for a nonpartisan seat being vacated by Umatilla County Commissioner Bill Elfering after eight years, posted a picture of the letter, which contained racist, misogynistic, and homophobic slurs on Facebook. In the post, which has since been deleted, Lopez wrote that he had received the letter but harbored “no resentment for whomever wrote this.”
As seen in the photo, the letter said that Lopez and other “Mexicans” were “not welcome here.”
“America is for the God-fearing, pro-gun, pro-life humans who refuse to be controlled by the government,” the letter said.
After being contacted by the East Oregonian newspaper, Lopez said that the incident was simply a big misunderstanding, and that he only wanted to talk to Edmonton about alleged racism in Umatilla County. He claimed that he only sought to use the letter as an example of the kind of racism some people experience but don’t talk about in public very often.
“I never meant to file a report, it just kind of spiraled out,” Lopez said, adding he “never meant to mislead” anyone.
When he was asked about the statements he made on Facebook and his comments to an East Oregonian reporter June 24 that he discovered the letter in his mailbox at home, Lopez confessed he had told police the same thing.
Edmiston said his department will also be forwarding information to the district attorney regarding potentially fraudulent statements Lopez made in his May 2020 voters guide regarding his background and education.
Lopez, who is also a member of the city of Hermiston’s Hispanic Advisory Committee, placed fourth in the May primary.
The police chief said Hermiston officers had learned that Lopez never served in the U.S. Coast Guard as he claimed in election materials, which — if true — is a violation of the Stolen Valor Act of 2013.
So far, the Observer reported, Lopez, 29, has not provided authorities with any proof of his claimed service.
“This investigation is particularly frustrating as we are in the midst of multiple major investigations while battling a resource shortage due to the current pandemic,” Edmiston said, the Observer reported.
“The time spent on this fictitious claim means time lost on other matters, not to mention it needlessly adds to the incredible tension that exists in our nation today. As a lifelong resident of this diverse community, I’m disgusted someone would try to carelessly advance their personal ambitions at the risk of others.”
The Hermiston Herald published a bio of the five county commission candidates May 5. It says he is an “associate pastor at Hermiston’s Living Springs Apostolic Church and the chief executive officer of the Einstein Learning Center.”
“I have no political background or involvement in my past history, but I am a person who always cares and is concerned for his community,” he is quoted as saying. “If I’m being prosperous, if I’m being successful, then I shouldn’t be content with other people’s misery.
“I want to work for all the residents of Umatilla County. I want to reestablish our place in the world so that they can see our potential and what we have here as a county in the state of Oregon,” he added.
Lopez’s hate hoax is the latest in a series of other higher-profile instances involving minorities who falsely claimed they were targeted or attacked because of their race.
Most recently, NASCAR No. 43 driver Bubba Wallace initially claimed that a garage door rope fashioned into a noose by someone was directed at him, but an FBI investigation determined the noose had been in the Talladega Superspeedway stall for months.
And in early 2019, “Empire” actor Jussie Smollett faked an attack on himself and blamed in on white Trump-supporting males.

Umatilla County commissioner candidate Jonathan Lopez admitted this week he faked the hate mail he posted on his facebook page.
Lopez posted the hateful letter filled with racist, homophobic and misogynist slurs.
What a nut.
And Lopez said he served in the US Coast Guard.
It was another lie and violation of the Stolen Valor Act.

A man who claimed he received a hate-filled, racist letter from an anonymous person allegedly wrote the letter himself, Hermiston Police say.
Chief Jason Edmiston tells KEPR-TV News that the criminal investigation for second-degree intimidation due to the racist, hate-filled letter received by Jonathan Lopez on June 23 has been closed. The matter will be referred this week to the Umatilla County District Attorney’s Office for initiating a false report – a Class A misdemeanor in Oregon.
Edmiston says the investigation has shown that Jonathan Lopez wrote the letter himself and made false statements to the police and on social media. The end result is a verbal and written admission by Lopez that the letter was fabricated.
Additionally, the Hermiston Police are sending the Office of the District Attorney verifiable information of potential election fraud as it pertains to the Stolen Valor Act of 2013 and other false credentials presented by Mr. Lopez during his run for county commissioner. This in conjunction with a lengthy criminal history record may result in the filing of additional charges.

White woman who attacked police officers with firebomb blamed ‘black man’ for giving her the materials until her white accomplice confessed

Samantha Shader, a 27-year-old white woman, was arrested on charges of throwing Molotov cocktails at an NYPD vehicle occupied by four officers at a protest following the death of George Floyd in late May. She faces charges including use of explosives to commit a felony, arson, and use of a destructive device.
Shader’s actions were caught on tape and she admitted to throwing the makeshift explosive but claimed three “Black” strangers had approached her on the street and given her the bottle. But this past Friday, July 3, police arrested a white man who admitted to federal authorities he’d given Shader the materials for the firebomb. Timothy Amerman, a 29-year-old painter, now faces up to 10 years of prison time if he is convicted on charges of civil disorder or civil disorder conspiracy.
Although Shader’s story about a group of Black people giving her the Molotov cocktail gear is false, her account of the encounter is fairly detailed. She said the man who gave her the bottle was a “thicker guy’ with his hair in “skinny dreads,” of different colors. She said the second man was wearing a hat and that the woman who was with them had “poofy” hair. Shader says she felt important at the time because she was the only white person around, and took the bottle.
No one in the police vehicle Shader targeted was injured, and the officers escaped the van to apprehend her. Prosecutors say Shader bit an officer’s leg as they took her into custody.
Upon searching Shader’s vehicle, police found a note with Amerman’s fingerprints on it that said: “I found a few more glass bottles than I thought I had, though still not many. I’m giving you my mask in hopes that helps. Wish I had more. There’s also a bag in here for you. BE SAFE Please. Really Good Luck, – Love Tim.”
Amerman told police he gave Shader “projectiles to throw at police and counter-protesters.”
According to federal agencies, the accomplices regularly post anti-police memes on Facebook. Shader posted that “Black people should be allowed to burn down the country thew built for free, and Amerman said in a post from late May that cops are “Tax collectors with guns. Wife beaters. Murderers.”
Amerman is currently being held in Albany, New York, as he waits to face his charges, and Shader, who has been arrested 11 times before, faces life in prison.

Inside a Battle Over Race, Class and Power at Smith College
A student said she was racially profiled while eating in a college dorm. An investigation found no evidence of bias. But the incident will not fade away.
In midsummer of 2018, Oumou Kanoute, a Black student at Smith College, recounted a distressing American tale: She was eating lunch in a dorm lounge when a janitor and a campus police officer walked over and asked her what she was doing there.
The officer, who could have been carrying a “lethal weapon,” left her near “meltdown,” Ms. Kanoute wrote on Facebook, saying that this encounter continued a yearlong pattern of harassment at Smith.
“All I did was be Black,” Ms. Kanoute wrote. “It’s outrageous that some people question my being at Smith College, and my existence overall as a woman of color.”
The college’s president, Kathleen McCartney, offered profuse apologies and put the janitor on paid leave. “This painful incident reminds us of the ongoing legacy of racism and bias,” the president wrote, “in which people of color are targeted while simply going about the business of their ordinary lives.”
The New York Times, The Washington Post and CNN picked up the story of a young female student harassed by white workers. The American Civil Liberties Union, which took the student’s case, said she was profiled for “eating while Black.”
Less attention was paid three months later when a law firm hired by Smith College to investigate the episode found no persuasive evidence of bias. Ms. Kanoute was determined to have eaten in a deserted dorm that had been closed for the summer; the janitor had been encouraged to notify security if he saw unauthorized people there. The officer, like all campus police, was unarmed.
Smith College officials emphasized “reconciliation and healing” after the incident. In the months to come they announced a raft of anti-bias training for all staff, a revamped and more sensitive campus police force and the creation of dormitories — as demanded by Ms. Kanoute and her A.C.L.U. lawyer — set aside for Black students and other students of color.
But they did not offer any public apology or amends to the workers whose lives were gravely disrupted by the student’s accusation.
On Oct. 28, 2018, Ms. McCartney released a 35-page report from a law firm with a specialty in discrimination investigations. The report cleared Ms. Blair altogether and found no sufficient evidence of discrimination by anyone else involved, including the janitor who called campus police.
Still, Ms. McCartney said the report validated Ms. Kanoute’s lived experience, notably the fear she felt at the sight of the police officer. “I suspect many of you will conclude, as did I,” she wrote, “it is impossible to rule out the potential role of implicit racial bias.”
The report said Ms. Kanoute could not point to anything that supported the claim she made on Facebook of a yearlong “pattern of discrimination.”
Ms. McCartney offered no public apology to the employees after the report was released. “We were gobsmacked — four people’s lives wrecked, two were employees of more than 35 years and no apology,” said Tracey Putnam Culver, a Smith graduate who recently retired from the college’s facilities management department. “How do you rationalize that?”
Rahsaan Hall, racial justice director for the A.C.L.U. of Massachusetts and Ms. Kanoute’s lawyer, cautioned against drawing too much from the investigative report, as subconscious bias is difficult to prove. Nor was he particularly sympathetic to the accused workers.
Ms. Blair was reassigned to a different dormitory, as Ms. Kanoute lived in the one where she had labored for many years. Her first week in her new job, she said, a female student whispered to another: There goes the racist.
Anti-bias training began in earnest in the fall. Ms. Blair and other cafeteria and grounds workers found themselves being asked by consultants hired by Smith about their childhood and family assumptions about race, which many viewed as psychologically intrusive. Ms. Blair recalled growing silent and wanting to crawl inside herself.
The faculty are not required to undergo such training.

Albion College and the Albion Department of Public Safety say a student is responsible for racist graffiti found in a dorm last weekend.
Albion police brought the 21-year-old Black male in for questioning on April 6, according to Chief Scott Kipp. The student admitted to creating most of the graffiti, and video evidence from Albion’s Campus Safety Department confirms the statements made by the student, Kipp said.
The student was released after questioning, Kipp said. Once the investigation is complete, the information will be submitted to the Calhoun County Prosecutor’s Office for any charges related to the incident, he said.
The graffiti, which included racist epithets and multiple references to the Klu Klux Klan, was discovered in a stairwell inside Mitchell Towers on Friday, April 2, university officials said. Pictures of the graffiti were posted by City Watch NEWS Group on its Facebook page.
In a series of tweets Wednesday evening, April 7, college officials said the student was acting alone and acknowledged responsibility for the incidents. The student was immediately removed from campus and placed on temporary suspension while the college conducts a full investigation as part of its student judicial process, college officials said.
“We know the acts of racism that have occurred this week are not about one particular person or one particular incident. We know that there is a significant history of racial pain and trauma on campus and we are taking action to repair our community,” college officials tweeted. “We will change and heal together as a community, because we are committed to doing the work.”

The La Crosse Fire Department was dispatched shortly before 2:30 a.m. to Marian Hall, where security personnel reported the fire in the second floor lounge of the residence hall. The fire was put out with a fire extinguisher, but the department reported a “fair amount” of smoke damage and that the building needed to be ventilated. There was minor damage to a wall and a small area of carpet. The fire didn’t activate the building’s sprinkler system.
A La Crosse Police Department report says Unanka was identified on surveillance video that had recently been installed after reports of racist and threatening graffiti. The video reportedly shows Unanka left her room around 2:09 a.m. and could be seen glancing around and checking the area for other people. During the next five minutes, she entered a lounge area and a bathroom before returning to her room.
The report says after the camera picked up images of smoke around 2:14 a.m., Unanka frantically knocked on multiple residents’ doors and pulled a fire alarm. When police arrived at the scene, several students were discussing concerns that the fire was another hate crime incident.
A residential adviser told police that Unanka texted a friend that she was potentially a victim of another hate crime because the fire was started next to her dorm room.

In yet another "hate hoax" incident, it appears that the girl was sending racist messages to other black female students, although police could only confirm that she was the one who created the account. As far as individual messages go, they can, however, confirm that the messages did originate from her home IP. According to The College Fix, the messages were virulently threatening and racist in nature, containing such phrases as "die, ni**er", among others.
One message said, 'Go back to Africa. With your tribe.' Another post said, 'GET HANGED. DIE. KILL YOURSELF," KSTP-TV reported.
The unidentified girl, who has been confirmed as a member of the Black Excellence Club, and said that she couldn't publicly admit that she created the account to her friends because they are "not stupid," implying that they will realize right away that it was her that sent the messages, despite the lack of definitive evidence. For that reason, she was "unsure if she should tell us who else was with her and sent messages with the account," said the report. She went on to state that "there was only one other person involved and did not want to say that person’s name."
The girl originally told the police that it wasn't her that created the account, but later changed her story and confessed to creating the account in the face of evidence.
At this time, no charges will be laid in connection with the "hate hoax" messages.

Dwayne Haynesworth’s auto repair shop in Spring Lake, N.C., was repeatedly attacked by vandals, who smashed windows and spray-painted racist graffiti on cars, including swastikas, “KKK,” and a picture of a klan hood. Someone even painted Please leave” on a car. Haynesworth is black.
The attacks went on for three weeks before Haynesworth decided to install security cameras. The very next day, May 25, he caught the two culprits on video. Neither wore klan hoods nor even MAGA hats. The video captured two teen-aged boys, both black.
Last month Viterbo University student Victoria Unanka claimed she was the victim of two race crimes. One night shortly thereafter, a fire started in a lounge next to her dorm. She texted a friend that she believed she was the victim of yet another racist attack because the fire was so close to her room. Unaka apparently didn’t know the school had installed cameras after she reported the two “racists attacks” against her. Imagine her surprise when the police arrested her for arson and negligent handling of burning materials. She was released on a signature bond.

Racist graffiti found in a Missouri high school's bathrooms was the product of a "hate hoax," the school district announced Tuesday.
When faculty at Parkway Central High School in St. Louis County announced that racist graffiti had been uncovered earlier in September, students and community members across the district staged a walkout in condemnation of the incident.
However, the culprit behind the graffiti was a nonwhite student, according to a letter sent to parents, Supt. Keith Marty announced Tuesday.
"The student responsible is not white," Marty wrote. "This does not diminish the hurt it caused or the negative impact it has had on our entire community."
The student admitted to writing the messages, and the graffiti constituted a violation of the district's policies, Marty said.
"The student is facing severe disciplinary consequences and referral to law enforcement for investigation," the letter read. "Parkway will continue to hold students responsible for any behavior that threatens or degrades others in our school community."
Even though the student was not white, the school condemned the action and praised the student -led walkout efforts. "Students proactively led walkouts at multiple Parkway high schools and in these moments, many students shared personal experiences of racism throughout their lives and at school," Marty wrote.
A similar event took place in April at Albion College in Michigan, where a black male student tagged a dormitory's stairwell with graffiti featuring racist epithets and references to the Klu Klux Klan, according to the school's safety department.
Another example of a hoax that turned a college on its head occurred in 2017 at St. Olaf College, MPR News reported . After a note was left on a student's car that consisted of a racial slur and an insult, classes at the school were canceled to relieve the emotional trauma felt by the student body and faculty, according to school officials. Days later, an investigation determined the letter was not a "genuine threat" and was instead an attempt to raise awareness toward the alleged hostile climate of the campus, a statement from the school said.

CHICAGO (AP) — Jussie Smollett staged a racist and homophobic assault and told police he was the victim after the television studio where he worked didn’t take hate mail he had received seriously, a prosecutor said during opening statements in the ex-“Empire” actor’s trial Monday.
Smollett has maintained he was attacked in downtown Chicago in January 2019 by supporters of then-President Donald Trump, a report that ignited political and ideological divisions around the country. But special prosecutor Dan Webb said the actor recruited two brothers to help him carry out the fake attack, then reported it to Chicago police, who classified it as a hate crime and spent 3,000 staff hours on the investigation.
“When he reported the fake hate crime that was a real crime,” said Webb, who was named as special prosecutor after Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx’s office dropped the original charges filed against Smollett. A new indictment was returned in 2020.
Smollett, who arrived at the courthouse in Chicago Monday with his mother and other family members, is charged with felony disorderly conduct. The class 4 felony carries a prison sentence of up to three years, but experts have said it is likely that if Smollett is convicted he would be placed on probation and perhaps ordered to perform community service.
Webb told jurors that the two brothers — who worked on the “Empire” set with Smollett — say the actor paid them $3,500 to pose as his attackers after he was unhappy about how the studio handled the letter he received. That letter included a drawing of a stick figure hanging from a tree and “MAGA,” a reference to Trump’s Make America Great Again campaign slogan, Webb said.

Cross-examination of a star prosecution witness in the Jussie Smollett case got off to a dramatic start Thursday, with attorneys for the “Empire” actor insinuating that Abimbola Osundairo was secretly dating Smollett — or at least used the “sexual tension” between him and the actor to advance his own career.
From the stand, Osundairo strongly denied that their relationship was romantic, and said he did not believe Smollett had any kind of crush on him.

In opening statements Monday, Smollett’s defense painted the Osundairos as criminals and liars who may have attacked Smollett out of homophobic tendencies. And cross-examination by defense attorney Shay Allen hit many of those points. He tried to question Osundairo, who is of Nigerian descent, about homophobia in Nigerian culture, to prosecutors’ repeated objections.
And in a made-for-TV moment, Allen asked Osundairo: “When did you and Jussie start dating?”
“What?” Osundairo said. “We were never dating.”
The two men had sometimes gone to a bathhouse in Boystown together, Osundairo testified on direct examination Wednesday, but said he was unsure whether it was a gay bathhouse.
“Were you using the sexual tension between you to progress your acting career?” Allen asked Thursday.
“I didn’t know there was sexual tension,” Osundairo replied.
Over more than four hours of questioning by prosecutors Wednesday, Osundairo walked jurors through the planning and execution of the attack in minute detail, including Smollett’s request that Osundairo and his brother “fake beat him up” because he felt his security on the “Empire” set wasn’t being taken seriously.
The plan culminated, Osundairo said, when he and his brother Olabinjo spotted Smollett near his Streeterville apartment around 2 a.m. and, as planned, sprang into action.
“I said, ‘Hey, aren’t you that Empire (homophobic slur)?’ and we said the other words, and my brother said, ‘This is MAGA country,’” Osundairo testified. “That’s when I proceeded to punch him in the face and tussle … I threw him to the ground, put the bruise on his face, then I saw some car lights and then ran away.”
Smollett faces six felony counts of giving a false report to police. The actor, who is Black and gay, told officers he was attacked by two people who yelled racist and homophobic slurs, poured bleach on him, and tied a rope around his neck like a noose. The Osundairos, however, told police that Smollett recruited them to stage the attack, turning Smollett from victim to suspect.
Smollett’s lead attorney Nenye Uche, has been barred from questioning either brother. In one of the case’s many odd wrinkles, after Uche signed on to the case earlier this year, the Osundairos claimed they had spoken with him about possibly representing them in the early days of the Smollett matter.
Uche strenuously denied that assertion, but prosecutors argued he should be kicked off the case due to a conflict of interest. After a lengthy closed-door hearing, Judge James Linn said Uche could continue to represent Smollett - but could not cross-examine the brothers.
Osundairo’s brother, Olabinjo, also may testify against Smollett on Thursday. Abimbola Osundairo testified that Smollett’s plan involved Olabinjo pouring bleach on him and wrapping a rope around his neck like a noose.

Rahmani added: "Either way, Smollett’s story was a bizarre attempt at forcing a square peg into a round hole by offering every possible explanation for the state’s digital evidence except the most obvious one: that he is guilty. In the unlikely event he is acquitted, Smollett’s decision was a genius move. But it is far more likely that the jury sees through his ruse and Smollett is convicted. If so, the judge may sentence him to prison time for obstructing justice and perjuring himself on the witness stand."
James White, a high-powered attorney in Michigan who is also not involved in the Smollett case, echoed Rahmani's comments that the actor’s testimony was nothing more than "an unparalleled disaster." White noted that he believes Smollett not only "hurt his case" but also "went beyond and made the prosecutor’s case" in the process.

A jury has now confirmed what police (local, state, and federal), Dave Chappelle, and you knew all along: that Jussie Smollett perpetrated a fake hate crime, hung his friends out to dry, and tried to blame everything on Donald Trump. Jussie may as well have said, “But … but … but … MAGA! But Trump! C’mon, guys, don’t you believe me?”
It turns out that the only ones who believed Jussie Smollett’s fake “beating” by his accomplices were Black Lives Matter because the group hates the police more than it hates lying to the American people.
Well, it turns out that Americans are getting wise to fake hate crimes. In fact, there are so few real hate crimes that people like Jussie Smollett have to make them up. Or, as a commentator Clay Travis once said of Jussie in 2019, “The demand for racist hate far exceeds the supply of any racist hate incidents. Because of this, we are seeing one racial hoax charade after another.”
So few hate crimes exist that not only do Leftists have to make them up, they have to redefine what racism is (see critical race theory for an example of how they do this). All of a sudden racial profiling is back! But this time it’s “good.” Black Lives Matter said so. And if you don’t agree, they and their Antifa fellow travelers will burn your house down.
There are so many fake hate crimes that several databases have been launched to keep track of them. The best one I’ve seen was recommended by PJ Media colleague Kevin Downey, Jr. . It is called, coincidentally enough, fakehatecrimes.org.
There probably are real hate crimes out there. There are racist people out there; the KKK, wherever they are, have nothing on BLM and CRT promulgators.
Let’s pick eight of the phony hate crimes you may have read about recently and later wondered, “Gee, whatever happened to … ?”
But before we get underway, the thing you realize very quickly is that fake hate crimes occur in the wokest of woke places, such as high schools and colleges. It makes you wonder if maybe we should simply shut down the hate factories to stop the children from being scandalized by crimes they never even imagined before until someone made them up.
Providence College
Black Providence College students were caught writing racial slurs on other people’s cars , but not before the closest thing to a perpetual motion machine, the outrage factory, cranked up and students demanded safe spaces.
East Carolina University
Let’s get whitey seems to be the motivation behind a fake fraternity party flyer posted last August on social media that announced “no blacks” would be allowed. The black student who posted it was busted two months later. He probably won’t be invited to any more parties.
Emory University
As the Hate Crime Hoax database notes, the outrage factory kicked into high gear and school officials swore they would hunt down the New Orleans area hate criminals and avenge the intolerable crime. A man who once worked at Emory University was found to be the culprit. He’s black.
Tortilla Attack Falls Flat
In the dreamy beachy town of Coronado, California, “white fans threw shame tortillas” at a largely Hispanic basketball team. But wait. It turns out that the tortillas were thrown by a grown man — who’s Hispanic, a CRT advocate, and a union activist. And it was later revealed, well after the outrage machine was oiled and purring, that the fake hate crime was staged to stoke support for CRT, which was being foisted upon the students and fought by parents.

Last July, “squad” member Cori Bush showed her social media followers a screenshot of an alleged death threat. We don’t doubt for a moment that Bush, as well as every other representative and senator, get hate mail and death threats, but the screenshot appeared to have been on an unsubmitted contact form, not one she, uh, actually received.

President Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris and a host of other liberal celebrities face questions over their tweets, backing Smollett on the same day as the alleged January 2019 attack, which he was convicted of faking on Thursday.

Yesterday Jussie Smollett was found guilty of faking a hate crime and lying to police but he was not alone in his guilt. Far from it. Although hardly the only one, I had this figured out quickly and posted it nearly three years ago.
What were the odds of two MAGA hat wearing Trump supporters would be outside a Chicago restaurant at 2 am with a wind chill of -40 waiting for Smollett? Despite my cynicism, I said nothing. I wanted to wait for the facts to get sorted out. Liberals, however, had no interest in the truth.
Last night I set about collecting the ridiculous things said about Smollett but soon realized that I had already posted most of them back then. Nonetheless, it's worth revisiting. Let's start from the top down

Jussie Smollett, on trial for allegedly staging a hate crime against himself, testified Monday that he had correspondence with CNN's Don Lemon during the early parts of the Chicago Police Department’s (CPD) investigation into the incident.
Smollett, 39, testified that he received a text from Lemon, supposedly relaying information that the CPD didn’t believe Smollett's account of what happened, Fox News’ Matt Finn reported from the Windy City courthouse.

Illinois law enforcement announced on Friday that Kaliyeha Clark-Mabins, a black college student, will be charged with three counts of disorderly conduct for filing a false police report late last month.
According to the charging documents, Clark-Mabins reported to the police on January 23 that “she was the victim of a Hate Crime, in that she reported that two notes were posted on her dormitory room door — saying “BLACK PEOPLE DON’T BELONG” and “DIE BITCH.”
“Kaliyeha Clark-Mabins knew that at the time of this transmission there was no reasonable ground for believing that such an offense had been committed,” the charging documents add.
The investigation included not just the campus police, but the “Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office and the U.S. Secret Service,” according to an email obtained by the College Fix. The Secret Service’s involvement in the investigation has not been explained.
Two white students who were falsely accused of involvement have also reportedly been cleared. Moreover, a Change.org petition that garnered 1,817 supporters called for the expulsion of the initial suspects.
“A black teen and her sister has had their lives threatened by some white teens on campus and have had no justice,” read the petition, created by a user called “Justice for Us.”

Student admits to racist graffiti at Sacramento school: ‘A prank that went sideways’
Investigators have identified a black student is responsible for racist graffiti found over a water fountain at C.K. McClatchy High School with a message that alluded to segregation, community leaders announced Thursday.
Mark Harris, a community liaison with Sacramento City Unified School District, said the student confessed to writing “colored” on one side of the dual water fountain and “white” on the other side. He said he saw video that showed the student writing the graffiti that corroborates her confession.

A black student from Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville in Edwardsville, Illinois, is facing criminal charges for reporting racist notes to the police that she allegedly knew were not sent to her from an unknown perpetrator. Two white students who were falsely accused of placing notes on her dorm room door reading “BLACK PEOPLE DON’T BELONG” and “DIE BITCH” have been cleared following an investigation into the incident.
Illinois law enforcement announced on Friday that Kaliyeha Clark-Mabins, a black college student, will be charged with three counts of disorderly conduct for filing a false police report late last month.
According to the charging documents, Clark-Mabins reported to the police on January 23 that “she was the victim of a Hate Crime, in that she reported that two notes were posted on her dormitory room door — saying “BLACK PEOPLE DON’T BELONG” and “DIE BITCH.”
“Kaliyeha Clark-Mabins knew that at the time of this transmission there was no reasonable ground for believing that such an offense had been committed,” the charging documents add.
The investigation included not just the campus police, but the “Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office and the U.S. Secret Service,” according to an email obtained by the College Fix. The Secret Service’s involvement in the investigation has not been explained.

Authorities said the suspect drew a swastika on a "No Smoking" sign that was affixed to the exterior of the building on Thursday, March 10, at approximately 3:40 p.m., at 450 Lexington Avenue. The suspect is described as a dark-skinned man who wore a gray and yellow hooded sweater, dark-colored pants, and sneakers.

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office has identified two students, who, they say, are responsible for writing racist graffiti on s wall at Rosemont High School.
The incident happened on March 22 near the end of the school day. The graffiti read: “All n******* should die.”
It was referred to detectives who worked closely with the school district and administrators, the sheriff’s office said Tuesday. Rosemont High School administrators say they obtained video surveillance footage showing two African-American female juveniles clearly writing the graffiti on the wall.
From the video, school officials and sheriff’s office detectives learned the identities of both students. The sheriff’s office says it will consult with the Juvenile Division of the District Attorney’s Office if criminal charges are warranted.
When the graffiti was first found, Sacramento Unified School Dist. Superintendent Jorge A. Aguilar said, “As a community, we need to loudly condemn this hateful act. Racist incidents will not be tolerated in our schools. We will work to provide the support needed for our students and staff experiencing trauma from this incident as soon as possible.”
Several similar incidents have happened at district schools over the last few months.
In February, a Black student wrote the words “White” and “Colored” on water fountains at McClatchy High School.
A few days before that, hateful graffiti featuring the n-word, “KKK” and swastikas were found on multiple buildings at Abraham Lincoln Elementary in Rancho Cordova.

Eric Stewart, 51, a now former criminology professor at Florida State University in Tallahassee, is now out of work due to “extreme negligence” in his research. According to Google Scholar, Stewart and his work were cited over 8,500 times by other researchers.

Claudine Gay Update -- Now It's Allegations Of Data Falsification

It was less than three weeks ago, December 5, when the name of Claudine Gay, President of Harvard University, suddenly burst into the news. That was the day that she, along with the Presidents of Penn and MIT, testified before Congress — and could not give a clear answer as to whether it was against the policy at their schools to call for the genocide of Jews. All three women attempted to use the occasion to paint themselves as defenders of free speech, particularly important in such extreme cases.
Manhattan Contrarian readers already knew that Ms. Gay was the opposite of a defender of free speech. In a post on December 16, 2022 with the title “Goodnight, Poor Harvard!” — written on the occasion of the announcement that Ms. Gay would become the next President of Harvard — I reviewed her record on the subject. My conclusion, based on multiple examples mostly from the work of independent journalist Christopher Brunet, was that Ms. Gay was “the enforcer-in-chief of wokist orthodoxy at Harvard.”
In the few short weeks since December 5, the news as to Ms. Gay has gotten worse and worse, seemingly by the day. First, some big donors ramped up threats to pull their funding. Then came a handful of allegations of plagiarism found in a few among Ms. Gay’s small number of academic papers. On December 12 the New York Times reported that the Harvard Corporation had appointed a special committee to investigate the allegations of plagiarism, and that the committee had cleared Ms. Gay. Then it emerged that a source had given the allegations of plagiarism to the New York Post back in October, and the Post had sent them to Harvard for confirmation — only to get in return a threatening letter from the Clare Locke law firm (the same firm that had recovered over $700 million from Fox in the Dominion Voting case) asserting that the accusations of plagiarism were “demonstrably false.” Then (December 19 in the Washington Free Beacon) there emerged a new dossier now with some 40 instances of alleged plagiarism — almost four for each of Ms. Gay’s eleven academic articles — many of the new allegations much more serious than the ones that the special committee had just deemed minor.
So by December 19 the Clare Locke letter and the attempt of the special committee to whitewash Ms. Gay’s plagiarism had blown up in the face of the Harvard Corporation. On December 22 the New York Post ran a big story demonstrating that the special committee had cleared Ms. Gay before investigating her work. Could it get any worse for Ms. Gay?
Yes. Here’s the latest from Christopher Brunet in a post at something called The Dossier yesterday: Claudine Gay has been asked for, but has refused to provide, the data that underlie a 2001 article she published in the American Political Science Review (“The Effect of Black Congressional Representation on Political Participation”). The 2001 APSR article was a critical piece in Ms. Gay receiving tenure from Stanford. In 2002, two researchers who had looked at the APSR paper — Michael Herron of Dartmouth and Kenneth Schotts of Stanford — thought the result anomalous and sought the underlying data from Gay. Herron and Schotts reported the results of that effort in a working paper they presented at the 2002 conference of the Society for Political Methodology. Brunet has obtained a copy of the Herron/Schotts working paper, and links to it at his piece. Here is the key quote from the Herron/Schotts working paper:
We were, however, unable to scrutinize Gay’s results because she would not release her dataset to us (personal communication with Claudine Gay, 2002).
Consider Gay’s (2001) EI–R analysis of the precinct-level socioeconomic covariates that affect black and white turnout. […] For Gay’s Michigan and Pennsylvania EI–R analyses to be logically consistent, it must be true that knowledge of a precinct’s percent black (Xi) tells us nothing about the precinct’s per capita income (an element of Gay’s Zi). This is untenable in light of contemporary American social realities: if a precinct has a large African-American population, then all things equal this precinct will have a relatively low per capita income. Nonetheless, without assuming that a precinct’s per capita income is not a function of its racial composition, and without making a host of similarly implausible assumptions for the other right hand side variables in her second stage regressions, Gay’s use of EI–R is logically inconsistent.
Yes, it’s technical mumbo-jumbo, but the gist is that the Gay paper’s methodology appears on its face to be “logically inconsistent,” so the authors asked for the underlying data, and they were refused. As far as I am concerned, failure by a researcher to share the underlying data as to published work is prima facie evidence that the data have been falsified. The ability to disprove that inference is completely in the hands of the researcher, here Ms. Gay, and there is no reason to refuse disclosure other than known problems in the data. Readers here know that the phenomenon of refusal to disclose underlying data is endemic in narrative-supporting politicized “science,” most famously in the Hockey Stick graph of Mann, et al., that is the primary basis of the global warming scare.
Is there any other reason to think that something suspicious is going on here? Well, the Herron/Schotts paper from which the above quote comes appears nowhere on the internet (except as Brunet has now posted it), and there is evidence to suggest that the paper was intentionally disappeared. Brunet:
The program for every PolMeth conference from 1984-2021 is available for download on the PolMeth website, except for 2002, indicating the missing year of 2002 was deliberately removed from this span, seemingly to protect Gay. This is especially true because there was no internet in e.g. 1984, so there is clearly a repository of old programs somewhere that was uploaded to the website at one point, from which 2002 is conspicuously missing. Perhaps 2002 was the sole year lost in the shuffle during this span.
Was the reason for disappearance of the Herron/Schotts paper to protect Gay, as Brunet hypothesizes? You be the judge. Anyway, it is completely in Ms. Gay’s hands to disprove any inference of data manipulation by disclosing her data. I’m somehow guessing that that’s not going to happen.
As they used to say about Donald Trump, “the walls are closing in” on Claudine Gay.
