In the 1980 Olympia issue of M&F, as well as MM International, Walker was not only favorably compared to A, but, by some reviewers, in a more positive light.

This is the truth why can't people see this? Arnold won and back to the comment that bill was the best judge in the best show, well the other judges were also the best judges and in the best show and they had Arnold in first.

Come on, despite what BSN says, we all know Coleman will never compete on a bodybuilding stage again.

Too many injuries, too many years.  He'll flirt wtih the idea for another 5 years though.

There is no 'truth'.

Its all subjective.

YOUR truth is not my truth, yet it is still the truth.

I have respect for you since you are old school and you know a lot about bodybuilding, but this horseshit about the sport being subjective is a bunch of garbage thats what the loser says to justify his lose, to prove my point; My father is 63 years old and he has never been to a show in fact he makes fun of us all the time. I took him to a regional level 1 and 2 event and he pointed out the winner of every single category on both events including the females, before they called out the winner, i swear this is tru, he even called out the overall, so if its subjective why can he seperate the winners from the losers without knowing anything about the sport. The odd time we see a bad decision based on politics or bad gudging but everybody is in agreement that Dexter Jackson looks better then Gregg Kovacs. Subjective=BULLSHIT

It goes on and on.

The main thing people do is judge Arnold on his past conditioning, but in my opinion,he was still good enoiugh to win in `80................the judges shared this same opinion!!  LOL  :)

Wouldn't side by side comparisons of all the top six guys doing their mandatories settle this once and for all?

Surely someone (Tim Fogarty?) can post up the pics?

Similarly, people argue about the 94 O when it's actually pretty easy to decide who should have won:
                          1st                  2nd              3rd
Front Double Bi      Levrone            Ray              Yates
Rear Double Bi       Ray                  Levrone        Yates
Front Lat Spread   Yates                Ray             Levrone
Rear Lat Spread    Yates                Ray             Levrone
Abs and Thigh       Ray                  Yates           Levrone
Side Chest           Levrone             Yates           Ray
Side Tri               Ray                   Yates           Levrone
Most Muscular      Levrone             Yates           Ray

...few people looking over the video would disagree with any of these individual pose placings... so then you simply assign three points to a first place, two points to a second place, and one point to a third place and you get a close result:
1st Shawn Ray     (17 points)
2nd Dorian Yates  (16 points)
3rd Kevin Levrone (15 points)

This result might have changed if bodybuilding had true proper scoring: meaning each and every competitor compared to each and every other competitor (in twos) for each and every mandatory pose instead of the bullshit name recognition and order-of-callouts-deciding-the-result system we have now.

But then again, it doesn't take much thinking to decide on a more equitable judging system... so it stands to reason to assume that the current system is used as a tool to fix contests by means of manipulating the callouts... this was quite apparent in 1980.
