me. I want to evacuate but I don't feel comfortable driving up north without 10 gallons of gas extra. No gas anywhere. everywhere is empty. The traffic is 10mph on the highway for 20+ hours until you hit Atlanta. I hope I survive

I will pass you going the other way. Actually I will be on 65 South. Me and my girlfriend are leaving for Destin tomorrow night. We are there for 8 days, hopefully only have a couple days of shit weather then turn nice. If not we just stay in the condo and bang. ;D

Florida officials are calling for evacuations as Hurricane Irma—now a category 5 storm—heads toward the sunshine state after causing destruction in the Caribbean. As many residents run to shelters for safety, one sheriff’s office is warning that it might not be the best idea for those with a warrant, advising them to turn themselves into jail before the storm hits.
“If you go to a shelter for #Irma and you have a warrant, we’ll gladly escort you to the safe and secure shelter called the Polk County Jail,” warned the Polk County Sheriff’s Office in Winter Haven, Florida via Twitter. “Sworn LEOs (Law Enforcement Officers) will be at every shelter, checking IDs.”
The Office also says registered sex offenders will not be allowed in the shelters. “We are here to keep people safe,” Sheriff Grady says, “We will not have those with active warrants, or those who are registered sexual offenders or predators, in a shelter with children and families.”

This really sucks for a friend of mine that has two big training facilities in N. Miami and Davie that had to be closed down.

Me and my girl arrived in Destin at noon yesterday. Had a beautiful day at the beach. Irma has swung west enough to intensify what we will get the next 2 days. Right now the wind has kicked up pretty well, dark clouds rolling in and the waves are intensifying. We will be watching roll in from the water on the 13th floor. Sand bags are already staged on the 1st floor. Tuesday on will be beautiful again.

In the 1920's there were 34 hurricanes total, 15 of which were major hurricanes. Dave Palumbo and his family are sticking it out through the storm and have opened their home up to those in need.
He has been giving some pretty good storm coverage on RXMuscle from his front-back yard (a beautiful piece of Florida property with an alligator creek running through his side yard) which may prove to be of interesting to most GetBiggers.
Parts of my family who have a beautiful home in Naples have driven up to North Carolina as ordered by the appropriate personnel.

1730 West Coast Time : Just heard from Naples, Fl .relatives that their home stood up well throughout the peak of the storm. Lots of water in the front yard but none in the house. A few trees blown away. No major property damage.
I hope that's true for the rest of the neighborhood.
