Didn`t he play pro football also at one time?
Doug I believe played at Texas Tech although I m just going by memory.They had a younger brother (can’t remember his name) who some old man from Brownwood told me was the best football player of them all. I saw Doug bench 611 in a t shirt not these Kevlar sling shot contraptions

Yup he was one huge guy and a monster bencher not like these clowns today who almost literally have 5 people and a machine assist them in the lift !!  ;D

  that was his brother bob who played football in the nfl. he came in second or third  in the strongest man in the nfl contest one year.
