CHICAGO — Chicago police are searching for the gunmen who injured an 11-year-old girl in the Auburn-Gresham neighborhood, and another who killed a 36-year-old woman in West Englewood.

At least 48 people were shot, four fatally in Chicago shootings since Friday afternoon.

In one of the latest incidents, police said an 11-year-old girl was standing on the street in the 8600 block of S. Halsted around 12:40 a.m. Monday, when an unknown man approached and fired shots.

In another incident, police said a 36-year-old woman was standing on the sidewalk in the 6400 block of S. Marshfield around 8:30 p.m. Sunday when shots were fired.

The woman was shot in the head and transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

CHICAGO -- At least 44 people have been shot, eight fatally, since Friday evening across Chicago, police said.

A 14-year-old boy was critically wounded in a drive-by shooting Sunday night in Hyde Park.

A 16-year-old boy was fatally shot Sunday afternoon in the Golden Gate neighborhood on the South Side, blocks away from where another teen was shot about 45 minutes earlier.

Five people were shot, one fatally on the city's South Side overnight Sunday, Chicago police said. The shooting happened in the Gresham neighborhood at about 12:20 a.m., police said.

Hours later, a man was shot to death early Sunday in the Humboldt Park neighborhood. The man, 32, was arguing with someone about 3:30 a.m..

At about 5:05 a.m. Saturday, a woman was shot inside a vehicle on the Near North Side.

Last weekend, at least 58 people were shot in Chicago, eight of them fatally.

A string of shootings across Chicago Wednesday left at least 10 people shot, and, according to police, at least half of those who suffered gunshot wounds were under the age of 16.

According to authorities, the youngest victim -- a 6-year-old boy -- remains in critical condition.

At approximately 2:19 p.m. in the 6100 block of S. Vernon Avenue in the city's West Woodlawn neighborhood, police say a 6-year-old boy was inside a third floor apartment when a bullet struck him in the back. Authorities say the gunfire came from within the building, but provided no further information.

Just a few hours later, not more than four miles away, four teens were shot while sitting on the porch of a residence in the city's Englewood neighborhood, police say.

According to authorities, at approximately 6:42 p.m. in the 7300 block of South Union, a 16-year-old and three 15-year-olds, all male, were sitting on a porch when an unknown person fired shots at the group.

Two hours later, at approximately 8:58 p.m. in the 2400 block of South Trumbull in the city's Little Village neighborhood, a 15-year-old male was fatally shot in the abdomen.

According to authorities, no one is in custody in any of the incidents.

This past weekend, Chicago police say there were 35 shooting incidents. As a result, 44 people were victims of gun violence, and eight of those people were killed.
