I watched the first two episodes last night. It was actually rather interesting.
Some of the events went exactly like you would predict. The heavy powerlifters and bodybuilders being the first to drop from the hanging bars. Speed beating power. etc.
Lots of shirtless hairless guys for you closet queens to stare at.
The recruitment was interesting. Apparently (from what I could gather), they just sent out / posted a request for people in top condition to come compete in a new game concept. Nothing else. It was very vague. Nobody knew what the game/event was or how to prepare for it or what to expect. They got a lot of national level / Olympic (gold medal) competitors, special forces, MMA fighters, youtube celebrities, dancers and a fucking zombie.
