Bush Proud That Elections Weren't Canceled "In Time Of War"

The Carpetbagger Report
Monday, November 13, 2006

I believe it’s important that Americans appreciate the democratic process, but this seems to have “soft bigotry of low expectations” written all over it. From yesterday’s presidential radio address:

One freedom that defines our way of life is the freedom to choose our leaders at the ballot box. We saw that freedom earlier this week, when millions of Americans went to the polls to cast their votes for a new Congress. Whatever your opinion of the outcome, all Americans can take pride in the example our democracy sets for the world by holding elections even in a time of war.” (emphasis added)

We should be “proud” that the federal government didn’t cancel our elections? That the Bush administration didn’t use the war as an excuse to interrupt the democratic process?

A sign of things to come in 2008?

in other words, the administration wasn't quite ready to have the people tear down the White House brick by brick is probably more accurate. I'm sure if they hadn't been so preoccupied doing damage control and trying to simultaneously spin the NIE report along with the Foleygate scandal, ...and didn't have the National Guard stretched so thin, they could have had the National Guard in place cordoning off 50 blocks around the White House, before announcing the elections would be suspended.

I think you people should get over the fact that yes, you won but by a VERY narrow margin...wasn't exactly a landslide. Also, that Liberal Susan Estrich said herself the other day that the Dems fooled everyone by running with a moderate agenda......this country will go off the charts to left if Polosi has her way!

Considering how off the chart to the right you guys are right now, ...such a shift could only be good news for your country.

Standards are so low here.  Repubs are smug about a 40% approval rating from false Dow and mnfg gas prices.  Dems are super giddy about rummy being replaced by a more refreshed warmonger.

And I don't care what MSN or FOX tells you... we're in iraq for ten years.

Yes, hopefully the balance will be good!
