Unlock an iPhone??
« on: February 25, 2010, 09:32:00 AM »
Anyone know how to unlock an iPhone so it can be used on other carriers other than AT&T (Tmobile I know you can)?  I see by googling that some sites say there is software you can buy and dl, but has anyone actually done it with success? Neither AT&T or Apple with unlock an iPhone, other phones yes, iPhone no.

  thanks for any info!

(I was given an iPhone 3G for free so I activated it with AT&T, but there plans are really too expensive for my use, and I can live with 2G going with Tmobile and saving $30-$40 a month!)

Thanks Gracie!!  I planned on getting the voice/text/data plan with T-mobile, for my needs 2G is fine, and AT&T overcharges I think.  I have no contract with AT&T so I can leave anytime I want.

PM me if you want.

 What's the version of your Iphone? 3..what?

 Baseband= modem firmware?

 To check that go to settings,general and about.

 Ps: What do you use Windows or Mac?

The firmware of the Iphone software itself? It's supposed to be 3.something

The process is easy. I've done it to my 3g and for a friend's 3gs yesterday. All i needed was blackra1n which is a free app (google it).
Plug in the device and run the program, use the new app which will the appear on your phone to unlock.

 There's no unlock for firmware 3.1.3 on baseband 05.12.01.

 You must downgrade the baseband to 04.26.08 first.

 Would you like to try?

 *Downgrading will only works with (bootloader)05.08. if you have 06.4 (bootloader) it's not going to work.

 How to Downgrade iPhone Baseband from 05.12.01 to 04.26.08

Step 1: In order to downgrade your iPhone baseband from 05.12.01 to 04.26.08, you must first jailbreak your iPhone using RedSn0w or  Sn0wBreeze.

Step 2: After jailbreaking, launch Cydia, then search for and install Fuzzyband.

Step 3: Launch Fuzzyband then tap “Downgrade”, which will start the downgrading process.

Step 4: Reboot your iPhone.

You should now be able to unlock using UltraSn0w. If you’re not sure how to do that, check out this tutorial on how to unlock iPhone 3.1.3.

 How to unlock iPhone 3.1.3 with UltraSn0w

    * Launch Cydia.
    * Add the following source to Cydia repo666.ultrasn0w.com (note there is a “0″ in sn0w, not an “o”).
    * After installing this source in Cydia, search for “ultraSn0w”.
    * Install UltraSn0w and reboot your iPhone.

 You always can plug back to Itunes and restore your Iphone.

 But remember, sometimes sh*t happens.
