Woman Survives As Huge Tree Falls On Her CarThursday May 28, 2009

A woman driving her SUV near Welland and Moore, in the St. Clair and Mt. Pleasant area, came to a crashing halt Thursday after a huge tree came down on her vehicle. If that wasn't bad enough, the mighty oak took down some hydro wires with it, leaving the driver trapped in the car until crews were able to safely extricate her.
It happened at the height of some very bad weather. "I saw lightning and I looked off to the side and it was on top of me," recalls Elizabeth Pritchard with a shudder. "You sort of check to see if you're alive and ... I felt lucky to be alive. It missed me by 10 inches."
The city has inspected the area and says the tree was rotten, and simply fell over in bad weather.
