aluminum is refined with electricity...The devoted ones have nothing to do with electricity...maybe corrugated iron?

Some of the really devout ones don't do that...If they have power tools they are run by air pressure off a compressor run by a diesel engine (It was explained to me that diesel engines were acceptable because there is no electric spark.  For some of them it is sparks they are proscribed from.)

Yes, there are different sects with different rules.  Old order Amish are the strictest.  What's weird is a lot of times they all work together with the other sects with different rules.  I live close to some Mennonites who have Amish girls working in their bakery and store.  The Mennonites have electric, phones and drive the Amish girls to and from work.
