White House Alters Official Transcript of Speech Where Biden Claimed Credit for Curing Cancer by: Matt Palumbo July 26, 2023
While delivering remarks on the subject of expanding access to mental health care, Joe Biden made some comments about curing cancer that raised a few eyebrows.
“One of the things I'm always asked is why Americans have sort of lost faith for a while in being able to do big things. If you could do anything at all, Joe, what would you do? I said I'd cure cancer. They looked at me like, why cancer? Because no one thinks we can. That's why, and we can.
We ended cancer as we know it,” Biden can be heard saying.

Rather than even bother to address the gaffe, the White House instead decided to silently rewrite reality, and alter the official transcript of his speech to read: “I said, ‘I’d cure cancer.’ And they looked at me like, ‘Why cancer?’ Because no one thinks we can. That’s why. And we can.
We can end cancer as we know it.”
Amusingly, in an attempt to debunk what they describe as the “the latest jab from conservatives who repeatedly point out flaws in the president's speeches,” one journo at Newsweek cites the White House’s falsified transcript as proof that Biden didn’t actually say what everyone with functioning ears could hear for themselves.
