they dont test for Omicron, they test for coronavirus
A specific test for omicron would be very expensive.
You never get told what variant you test positive for.
For laymen's purposes, let us just say Omicron. That's what the general public thinks they are getting tested for. They also think there is one specific generation of viroids which is called delta, delta plus, and omicron vs. 1000s of generations clumped under one name for TV purposes. They don't know about reverse transcriptase, CC, capsids, HSS, etc. Hope this helps.
