I left another comment on that thread, also in response to Greg Doucette's comment. Are militant vegans like this like social justice warriors, in that they have no self-awareness? I honestly don't even understand how people killing more animals than 90% of the world's population can possibly not understand that analogy, and the futility of "saving animals", simply by not eating animals, not focusing remotely on the myriad of other things that kill animals. Strange people. It feels strange reading the comments in that thread - like I'm reading the comments of cult members.
I don't understand these people. And incidentally, just so we're clear here on my own views, I have been eating much less meat in the past 4-5 years because some of the stuff that happens in animal slaughterhouses is extremely cruel, and it's just turned me off from eating meat, at least a little.
I'll put that another way: if I'm going to eat sentient beings, I would like to know that the animals I'm eating lived relatively cruelty-free lives.
But my point is - it's impossible to be completely consistent regardless of what views you have.
I'm open-minded to arguments about the impacts human beings have on animals, or on the planet in general, and I acknowledge that veganism isn't necessarily a "left-wing" thing...but the vegans posting on the video above are definitely somewhat similar to SJW's in how they talk to other people:
@Steve123 How about stop screaming at me for killing animals when your net impact on the planet kills more animals than mine does? It's like these disgusting obese creatures looking at me sideways for not wearing a mask. Meanwhile I'm doing mental somersaults wondering how anyone that fat have any business telling me ANYTHING about health.
If your net impact on the planet is killing more animals than 90% - or even 95%+ - of the planet, you have NO BUSINESS virtue-signalling ANYTHING TO ME.
You're literally typing to me on an electronic device constructed by someone working in conditions that are the closest to slave labour in the world today. And that doesn't even begin to touch on the animal cost of such things, caused by habitat loss and more. You think being a vegan makes you morally superior to most people, when your lifestyle kills more animals than most of the other world's 7.8 billion inhabitants.
But please tell me more about what a great person you are.
