Don't get it twisted. Whether facebook is a publisher as opposed to a platform and should have immunity is a different issue. I'm not in favor of any politician censoring private speech, Republican or Democrat. Trump never issued executive orders that censored speech by private entities. So I've answered your question. Are you ok with a Republican using a private company to censor speech?

Did you actually read the article? Like I said earlier, this involves whether facebook et al. are publishers versus platforms. The EO says they should be considered platforms if they are censoring speech. So the EO actually promotes, not censors, speech. lol

You would think. But what the past five years has shown me is there are few if any civil libertarians on the left anymore. There was an "ends justifies the means" to everything that happened.

It's one of my big problems with the left. Real liberal should be anti big business, but so many who claim to be liberal are clamoring to give tech even MORE power, as long as it's anti-Trump.

The thing is, I don't cast too much blame there. It all happened so fast, and as a country we don't like to be restrictive.
Even the companies themselves have been caught off guard. If you haven't seen The Social Dilemma, it's worth a watch. They have facebook employees admitting that stuff they thought was good for folks turned bad.

WTF? How can any sane person NOT see the hypocrisy?
