Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is already making enemies in the House Democratic Caucus — and some of its members are mounting an operation to bring the anti-establishment, democratic socialist with 2.2 million Twitter followers into the fold.

Just one week into her congressional tenure, freshman Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is ruffling feathers within her own party — which is now mounting a behind-the-scenes effort to rein in the social media star.

The Bronx-born Democratic socialist has racked up a bevy of complaints from her colleagues, including incumbents who aren’t pleased that she is backing a campaign to mount primary challenges against moderate Democrats, Politico reported.

“I’m sure Ms. Cortez means well, but there’s almost an outstanding rule: Don’t attack your own people,” Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D-Mo.) told the site. “We just don’t need sniping in our Democratic Caucus.”

Politico spoke to nearly 20 Democratic lawmakers and aides who said there’s a two-fold effort from within to rein in Ocasio-Cortez — warning that she could wind up isolating herself, but also trying to harness her star power to unite the party in its fight against Republicans.

WASHINGTON — Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez didn’t get a seat on the powerful tax writing committee where she sought to push her progressive agenda of Medicare for All, free college tuition and a green new deal.

Instead, the open downstate New York slot on the House Ways and Means Committee went to a moderate Democrat, Long Island Rep. Tom Suozzi, a former CPA, attorney and county executive.

Suozzi will assume the committee seat of Rep. Joe Crowley, the Queens Democrat Ocasio-Cortez defeated last year in a stunning upset.

Ocasio-Cortez sought a spot on the committee—which is usually off limits to freshman reps – with the backing of progressive groups that pushed for a slate of fresh-faced candidates to earn posh assignments.

Michigan Rep. Rashida Tlaib made a play for Appropriations, but she too was passed over.

Ocasio-Cortez, at 29 the youngest member of Congress, took the defeat in stride. Asked if she felt slighted by leadership, her spokesman Corbin Trent said “certainly not.”

“She hoped to be on it, but we’re excited to see what committees she does get,” Trent said.

I honestly think it will be the Democrats that lead to her exit (outside of herself).

She won't accomplish any of her radical ideas, and the party knows they need unity to win the next election.

Ayanna Pressley's successful challenge to Mike Capuano in Massachusetts, Ocasio-Cortez shares lessons from her campaign to help boost a new recruitment drive for progressive insurgents called #OurTime.

Already, the group is publicly searching for a primary challenger to centrist Rep. Henry Cuellar, D-Texas. Cuellar has defended his record, arguing his district features "more moderate, conservative Democrats."

Justice Democrats, the liberal group that engineered Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s meteoric rise — hijacking the Democratic Party in the process — is ready to go to war.

The opening salvo? An eight-minute video released Wednesday starring Ocasio-Cortez and calling for a new crop of activists and community organizers to run against the Democratic machine.

“If you're a one-term Congress member, so what?” Ocasio-Cortez says in the video. “You can make 10 years worth of change in one term if you're not afraid.”

Justice Democrats, which orchestrated Ocasio-Cortez’s long-shot bid last year against the fourth-ranking House Democrat, Joe Crowley, hopes to replicate its success in blue districts across the country.
