Actually, I hadn't noticed. Maybe folks who are worried about developing gynecomastia are more apt to see it on other fellows. Although anyone can have this due to hormonal imbalances, it seems to be much more prevalent with bodybuilders, likely because of AAS.

Another bodybuilder from my generation has died. People were asking for the longest time, if all the anabolics are so bad for you then where are the bodies?

As the kidney failure gets worse and the toxins continue to build up in the body, seizures and mental confusion can result. My wife suffers from both these symptoms. Awhile back she introduced me to one of her dialysis technicians. I've known her for several months, ever since my wife started dialysis at DaVita. Additionally when your kidneys aren't working right, you metabolize medications much more slowly, which can cause them to build up in your system thus magnifying the effects of the drugs. It can be a challenge to find the right dosage in these situations.

Joe might have been acting "bat shit crazy" because toxins and meds were building up in his body.

That is terrible to hear about your wife. Maybe you have explained before - but I didnt know. I can't imagine the pain you both must feel.  I will keep both of you in thoughts and prayers.

Is it true?  If so, Doom disapproves of his passing!  :'(

How old was he?

It is amazing how our perspective on what is old changes as we age, isn't it. When I was 20 I could not have imagined myself at 70, and yet, here I am 70 and thinking 80 is old. What will happen if I make it to 80?

So very true.  Mom (73) went on a cruise a few months ago.  When she came back, I asked her how the cruise was and she complained that there were "too many old people" on the cruise and said she didn't want to be on a ship like that again.  I bit my lip and didn't react.  :-X

Back to Joe; 49 is crazy young to be exiting life.  And from kidneys gone bad?  I anyone still going to deny there is a link between (long term) cycles and bad kidneys and heart trouble? :'(

gay note: for more than a few minutes, Joe was a total hottie; a tier 3 sexy MF.  Bay likey!  :P

I still have that 2001 iron man issue, wow time sure flies

It's getting bad for me.

It was 24 yrs since I judged Joe at the America and 20 years since I last competed.
Unless I stop and really think , I imagine it was just a few years ago.

When I run into anyone from my era , I'm shocked at how different they can look now.
Then I realize I last saw them over 20 yrs ago. Damn :o

Ya know, it "seems" like only 2-3 years ago when I was judging that Mr America.
Blows my mind that he's now gone and all those years have passed.

I remember seeing a pic in MM when he was training with Cormier and i thought 'That's what i want to end up looking like'.

He looked strong and that's an awesome look.

PED's might be bad but if he was mixing with heaps of other drugs then that's what will get you more. Michael Jackson was 50 how much gear did he take? But he took plenty of Prescription drugs and wasn't exactly overweight.

You make some good points regarding PED's
& other drugs.
Often this is overlooked.
Just blame it on Gear.

Lost my wife due to kidney failure (she also was battling breast cancer) in her 50s. Lost two very close friends in their late 50s same thing. None ever used AAS or PEDs. Note! All my Docs have told me MINIMAL Advil usage if at all.

I just came back from Walmart. F me!! So many old pfucks plodding around in slow mo in the aisles. Shhhh (I'm 75)

This isn't the first time, is it? The bodybuilder/kidney thing, I mean.
