It is with great sadness, that I received news that one of our favorite female posters, Original Sin, has passed away in mid-January. She was feeling ill and passed on the table during the procedure.She went quietly and felt no pain.

I did not know Original Sin that well, never having met her in person. We traded PM's for the most part, and she always had a great personality. I will miss having her here and I'm sure others will feel the same way.

I didn't know her, but any loss in the GB is a shared loss.

I never really got to know her as a poster but she always seemed like a fun upbeat person she was getbig family and will be missed

She had been PMing w/Youngblood and me prior to surgery.  We have been PMing her since w/no response.  Youngblood had her email and recently emailed her and her brother emailed him back telling him the tragic news. :(

I used to have a photo (she sent it to to me a long long time ago).  She was a very pretty girl with a kick ass body. 

I'm really having trouble swallowing this.  We all plug away on the computer, most of us forgetting there is actually another human being plugging away on the other end as well.

I remember when Jazzmon passed,she died of complications from a breast augmentation procedure in Ft. Lauderdale. We were gonna meet to go out,and then I heard about it :'(

There's not too much more to say. She was having a medical procedure done and as much information as I have (I was never told, and if I was, it's wrong to pass it along here), she passed on during the surgery.

let's just leave it having complications.  I always liked her and thought she was great.  She sent me a book when I was beating myself up about my break up.  It's a sad sad time.

Makes you wonder if the surgery was cosmetic or was it necessary for medical reasons.

Either way it's a terrible event, she was a cool poster.

A true friend...
is one that drives you to the hospital and stays there with you until you fall asleep.
Picks you up the next day after I had to spend the night for a billion tests and "observation".

When she took me back home I found out she did my grocery shopping, laundry and cleaned my house up for me.
(I have been sick for a while).

Yes I am alive, and Princess was right. I guess it was a little self centered to say I am ill and need tests and then bugger off.
Sorry all, I won't do it again.  :-[

I got some not so great news about my tests and I have to do some thinking about what I wish to do. It scared me and still does  :-\
So in my way of dealing with tough decisions I hid out at home, drank way to much and then hopped on a cruise.

I didn't take my phone, laptop or anything.  I needed to be alone to think.
Well I didn't think, nor really enjoy myself much either.  :-\

But I did get laid  ;D

Sad to think that in this day and age in a controlled environment like ER things like this can't be controlled.

Princess.....seems like she put some thought into the procedure vs not getting it and took the risk, damn shame.

It's saddening to hear. She had kinds words for me, I guess she could tell by my post what type man I am. So, I have to say, my condolences. She seemed like a good woman, with a good heart. To play on her name, it would be a "sin" not to have respect for her.

Saddened by the fact that she passed away while having the procedure done. She will be missed. And as someone said, sometimes we forget that there is another person on the other side, one just like us. With similar feelings, trials and tribulations.

I figured something was up because she never really came back. This blows my mind, but at the same time, makes you think about what you say, who you say it too, and those people that you really want to say something to, but never do.

Youngblood, C has read this thread and says he thought starting it was a very nice thing to do.  He gave me permission to post the following:


The following information was provided by Racquel's brother:


"Please feel free to post anything I have mentioned, I see no reason why not.

There seems to be a lot of curiosity of what happened so you can post this as well if you like.

Racquel was having vision, balance and concentration problems.  They weren't too bad but bad enough to get looked at.
The doctors found a brain tumor and it really needed to be removed.  One can always tell in Canada how bad something medical is on the speed you are scheduled for surgery.  After Racquel decided to have her surgery she was on the table within a week.  She tried to remain positive because she really hated people worrying about her.  During the operation she started hemorraging and they couldn't stop it, she basically bled to death."






"Thank you for the kind wishes and very nice thoughts about Racquel.  She was one of those people you only meet once in a life time.
Yes, she was extremely smart, far to smart for her own good at times.  I called those times growing up with her :-)  but I do cherish all of the time we had together.

She used to have the cutest way of pouting. it always made me laugh.  She even used it up to her very last day just to ease every bodies minds prior to her surgery.
It will be one of my fondest memories of her.  Racquel went through some rough times as of late but during it we got closer to each other then we ever had before.

There was such an age gap between us that we didn't spend much time together when she was younger.  I had moved out on my own when she was only 8 years old.
but the last several years we spent a lot of time on my deck just talking and laughing.  She became kind of sheltered after her breakdown as a Paramedic but the last year or so
she seemed to be dealing with it and was getting the smile she always had back.  It was really nice to see her enjoying life again.

She gave up dancing almost a year ago and just spent the time traveling and doing all the things that she really liked to do.  She talked about getting a degree in Psychology but was just unsure of what field she wanted to pursue.  I told her once that she was just trying to be like her older brother and collect a few degrees for the fancy letters you get to put on the business card.
She laughed at me and said "If I was trying to be like you I would have to climb to the highest branch of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down... twice".  LOL  

She passed on enjoying life again and being happy.
It is nice to think of her living in eternity like that.  Much better then her throwing her hands on her hips, tilting her head and sticking her bottom lip out at God until she got her way. :-)

We shall all miss Racquel in our own way, she was a larger then life person and I am sorry you never met her in real life, she was a lighthouse burning in a room full of candles."

Why do you think some of us are taking it really hard?  I mean, none of us knows eachother ~ really.  Is it because she was "one of us"? Because of the manner in which she passed? Because she was so young? Because she knew something was wrong and was scared, so she died in fear?  Because she trusted the medical profession and they let her down? Because it reminds us of our own mortality?  All of the above?  I haven't been this disturbed by a death in a long time  :'(

Some of us do know each other and have also met, Princess L. :) You and I met at the Arnold, at one point there were pics. Toxy and I, despite his being painfully girly in many, many..... many areas, are very close friends.

Racqual was fun, genuine, carried herself well, often gave interesting perspectives on stuff, and really seemed like good people.

Racquel being missed on a forum (where people don't know each other intimately in most cases) speaks volumes for the loss family and friends must be feeling.

her and I used t talk thru PM back n forth...as friends...telling jokes etc...

for me it kinda hits home because my girl has renal faliure and is on constant dylasis

It is because the Internet is a real place we do get attachments to, grow fond of or dislike and even hate people who we meet on the internet.
The emotions are real and it is never "Just the internet"
We all grew fond of OS and our feelings are normal emotions to that.
I am shocked........... I liked her and I am sad she is gone.

The above statement really nails it for me. No matter what Racq said, or even it just being via PM/email, she just stood out from 99.8% of the people I've ever come across in my life.

I've sat back for two weeks now trying to understand why someone that I've never met in my life has had this effect on me. And I just cannot. I can't wrap my head around it; the situation, her passing...it's like a void has been left in my mind. And again I can't figure out why.

As a great friend of mine said the other day: "This has truly rocked me."

I think it may be a good idea if Carl and Aaron could do a tribute on off topic with the people that knew her.. Maybe get Jack London, Laura, Stella and youngblood to share stories about what they knew of Raquel.

I think Jack, Youngblood and Laura knew her a lot better than I did but she really enjoyed listening to Carl and Aaron's radio show.  

In fact in one of her PMs she was in the hospital hooked up to bags w/meds waiting to find out more.  And she said "We wait, and listen to Carl and Aaron from offtopic to cheer me up."

I wouldn't say I knew her well, she did share some things with me and I think they were private but I'm not sure if I was any more privy to that information than the next person, and certainly don't think I knew her  well enough to be on a radio show saying I knew more than anyone else.

I think it may be a good idea if Carl and Aaron could do a tribute on off topic with the people that knew her.. Maybe get Jack London, Laura, Stella and youngblood to share stories about what they knew of Raquel.
She and I go back several years (on getbig) and shared a few personal stories.  She was more than just words on a computer to us all, which is a very good thing.  Like someone else said...most of us forget that there are people on the other side of this screen. 

I now add Racq to my memory bank, alongside Billy Carpenter ... getbigger friends that I'll truly miss.   :'(

I'm sorry to be so late posting my condolences in this thread.  I haven't been around much lately, and I was so sorry to hear about this.  Very sad news.  She was always a great member of this board and will be missed.   :(

whether it happens or not...in 2 yrs time when i'm done with my studies and have a job and am secure...i'm gonna sign up for a kidney swap...

someone else gets mine and she gets one...recovery is quick...so i should be able to get back to work in a few weeks time...

Recovery is quick for the recipient, but I've heard it's not so quick for the donor - at least that's what someone I know who did it said.  Either way, that's a very nice thing for you to do.

Kinda sad that she's not here to see all the nice things posted about her.  We all have a tendancy to think we are owed another day/week/month/year when in fact each one is a gift.  I'm sorry that she had to pass to know that we "as people" consider her as a person and not just a bunch of letters appearing on our monitors.

Wow this is shocking..we would email back and forth all the time as she would ask me about psychology and other things...she was such a smartass of which would have me in tears laughing sometimes. I knew of some of her struggles and her attitude towards it was most courageous. I sent this quote to her a while back and she said it really gave her strength. Now that she is at peace, I dedicate this post, this quote to OS.

The following information was provided by Racquel's brother:


"Please feel free to post anything I have mentioned, I see no reason why not.

There seems to be a lot of curiosity of what happened so you can post this as well if you like.

Racquel was having vision, balance and concentration problems.  They weren't too bad but bad enough to get looked at.
The doctors found a brain tumor and it really needed to be removed.  One can always tell in Canada how bad something medical is on the speed you are scheduled for surgery.  After Racquel decided to have her surgery she was on the table within a week.  She tried to remain positive because she really hated people worrying about her.  During the operation she started hemorraging and they couldn't stop it, she basically bled to death."






"Thank you for the kind wishes and very nice thoughts about Racquel.  She was one of those people you only meet once in a life time.
Yes, she was extremely smart, far to smart for her own good at times.  I called those times growing up with her :-)  but I do cherish all of the time we had together.

She used to have the cutest way of pouting. it always made me laugh.  She even used it up to her very last day just to ease every bodies minds prior to her surgery.
It will be one of my fondest memories of her.  Racquel went through some rough times as of late but during it we got closer to each other then we ever had before.

There was such an age gap between us that we didn't spend much time together when she was younger.  I had moved out on my own when she was only 8 years old.
but the last several years we spent a lot of time on my deck just talking and laughing.  She became kind of sheltered after her breakdown as a Paramedic but the last year or so
she seemed to be dealing with it and was getting the smile she always had back.  It was really nice to see her enjoying life again.

She gave up dancing almost a year ago and just spent the time traveling and doing all the things that she really liked to do.  She talked about getting a degree in Psychology but was just unsure of what field she wanted to pursue.  I told her once that she was just trying to be like her older brother and collect a few degrees for the fancy letters you get to put on the business card.
She laughed at me and said "If I was trying to be like you I would have to climb to the highest branch of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down... twice".  LOL  

She passed on enjoying life again and being happy.
It is nice to think of her living in eternity like that.  Much better then her throwing her hands on her hips, tilting her head and sticking her bottom lip out at God until she got her way. :-)

We shall all miss Racquel in our own way, she was a larger then life person and I am sorry you never met her in real life, she was a lighthouse burning in a room full of candles."

With Keith's passing I noticed someone mentioned OS's name and having never heard about her, I looked her up. Read her posts back about 30 pages. What a fantastic live-wire, a real grand lover of life. Can't believe I never read this board and bumped into her posts.

I bet even God have his work cut out with her raising havoc in heaven.
