BayGBM:
A towering moral figure for 40 years her dignity, grace, and fidelity to King’s dream has been an inspiration for millions of Americans and African Americans in particular.  It’s hard for people today to appreciate the life she lived in a time of pervasive racism.  In the 1960’s her family was the recipient of numerous death threats!  She often directly received those threats answering the phone at the King home day and night when hateful opponents of civil rights called to wish her and her family ill.

Like Anna Murray Douglass a century before her, Corretta became a partner in her husband’s life’s work on behalf of an oppressed people and in so doing raised the moral standing of a nation.  A real life Wonder Woman, Corretta “made a hawk a dove” and “stopped a war with love.” She “changed their minds and changed the world!”

That she endured all she did and never became embittered or hateful is truly a wonder.  Who needs fictional characters when we have women like Coretta Scott King?
