Not trying to argue, but I find this to be wrong. I know zero people who have died from COVID. (100K in my company alone w/ zero deaths).
Plus out of all our family/friends (huge Italian families in all parts of the globe).

I find that number to be way off or I would think I would know someone who died from it.
Or is that not how the '1 in 6' thing works? <--- serious question...

The odds of dying from a particular disease are calculated over a persons lifetime. You're using a smaller time period (2 1/2 years, the length of time since COVID first appeared).

The odds of dying from heart disease are 1 in 4. Obviously, you wouldn't expect that 25,000 of you coworkers would die of heart diesease in the last 2 1/2 years.

Oak saying you have a 1 in 6 chance of dying from covid is the same as saying me you have a 1 in 1 chance of dying. It's a meaningless stat without context.

An example of context. You're 88, your immune system is shot to shit and you're basically circling the drain. The wind changing direction could finish you off. Under these circumstances Covid has a 1 in 6 chance of finishing you off.

The actually sound bite should be "There is a 1 in 6 chance you'll die with covid if you also manage to live to a very old age" Things like heart disease, strokes and cancer will kill most people long before covid does.

What you are saying is correct. (sort of)

There is a 100% chance that we will die.

Of course, I'd much rather die at 90 than 60.

 :(

Do you believe because most medicines have a long list of negative side effects, we should ignore them or should we take them under advisement? In my opinion, the side effects should be weighed against the benefits. One consideration is the frequency of the side effects occurring. If it is rare, this is somewhat assuring, but not a guarantee someone won't suffer them.

I don't think we have a good method of informing people of possible side effects. Too many rare or very mild side effects are listed. When over 100 side effects are listed people end up ignoring all of them. Some medicines are known to cause certain side effects at a higher frequency, or a severe side effect at a rare rate, but this gets lost in all the noise.

I love the TV commercials where they spout the possible side-effects, in a very fast manner.

"Possible side effects include" then they ramble off 100 horrific things and end with "death".
(Oh, but you wont have dandruff anymore)  :)

I find this interesting too. The same commercials don't speed talk about the benefits. We live in a phony - baloney world where the almighty dollar is really the only thing that counts. Drug companies are not some helpful friend who only wants to make you feel better. If they were, they would not charge people an arm and a leg for medications.

Anyone with a university-level degree in statistics has probably reached the conclusion that Ivermectin is effective at reducing death and illness related to Covid.  The fact that this information was suppressed to push more profitable experimental drugs is a global disgrace.  Who benefited? Follow the money, MSM, Big Pharma, Big Tech, and the Democratic party.

This video by Dr. John Campbell should convince even the most skeptical.  He has no dog in this fight.   He is fully vaxed and receives no money from Ivermectin producers (Ivermectin is essentially free).

Doesn’t Pfizer have a treatment similar to this now? I’ve seen a commercial where they talk about getting your doctor to prescribe it if you’ve got covid.
