Truth Social today has no debt and over $200 million in the bank, opening numerous possibilities for expanding and enhancing our platform
Following the Trump Media & Technology Group's successful merger with Digital World Acquisition Corp. and its listing on the stock market, the firm that controls social media platform Truth Social has a considerable stockpile of cash to finance its expansion, according to its CEO.
The companies completed their merger earlier this month, following a lengthy period of scrutiny from the Securities and Exchange Commission. The company's market cap has fluctuated considerably since its IPO.
Following the listing, the company filed its form 10-K with the SEC, according to Global Newswire.
"We are excited to be operating as a public company and to have secured access to capital markets. Closing out the 2023 financials related to the merger, Truth Social today has no debt and over $200 million in the bank, opening numerous possibilities for expanding and enhancing our platform," CEO Devin Nunes said. "We intend to take full advantage of these opportunities to make Truth Social the quintessential free-speech platform for the American people."
Prior to the IPO, Nunes hinted that the company would make use of its then-expected windfall to finance the expansion of the app's capabilities and work toward attracting new users.
Speaking on the "Just the News, No Noise" television show last month, Nunes indicated that the platform was looking to expand its video-streaming capabilities and to build on its existing group features.
"So that's something we're looking at is streaming, we've been testing it, developing it. So stay tuned. There's there's more to come," he said at the time.

Two brothers who helped fund former President Donald Trump's now-public social media company pleaded guilty Wednesday to insider trading.
Michael Shvartsman and Gerald Shvartsman made millions by trading in shares of Digital World Acquisition Corporation before it merged with Trump Media, according to federal prosecutors in New York.
Michael Shvartsman, 52, of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, and Gerald Shvartsman, 45, of Aventura, Florida, were arrested on securities fraud charges last July.
They each pleaded guilty Wednesday to one count of securities fraud.
Each of them faces up to 20 years in prison when they're sentenced in July, but prosecutors agreed to recommend a sentence of about three years.
"Michael and Gerald Shvartsman admitted in court that they received confidential, inside information about an upcoming merger between DWAC and Trump Media, and used that information to make profitable, but illegal, open-market trades," said U.S. Attorney Damian Williams. "Insider trading is cheating, plain and simple."

Investors who poured their hard-earned cash into former president Donald Trump's Truth Social meme stock — while ignoring an astronomical number of red flags — are experiencing a rude awakening.
As the Washington Post reports, Trump supporters are seething as the value of the social media platform's parent company Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG) continues to plummet (it's fallen an astonishing 16 percent just since markets opened this morning.)
"Sick of MY investment money being stolen!!" one user wrote in a Truth Social post, as quoted by WaPo, accusing Wall Street of unfairly shorting the stock. "They’re stealing peoples [sic] money and you’re allowing it!!"

Ever since the company merged with a blank check acquisition company, effectively allowing the far-right social media platform to be publicly traded, shares have been in freefall, wiping out any initial gains.
The latest plunge comes after TMTG announced it was planning to issue millions of additional shares.
As of this morning, shares have fallen well below $30, significantly less than what they were worth at the time of TMTG's merger and well under half what it was worth just two weeks ago.
Analysts have been shouting from the rooftops that Trump's cash grab was nothing more than a "scam" and that investors should stay far away. Yet plenty of the former president's most diehard fans have yet to be dissuaded.
"I know good and well it’s in Trump’s hands, and he’s got plans," 71-year-old Oklahoma City native Jerry McClain, who invested in the stock, told WaPo. "I have no doubt it’s going to explode sometime."

In reality, TMTG's executives are already locking down millions of dollars in payouts, leaving investors out to dry.
Bafflingly, some investors have made their peace with that, highlighting the fervor and fanaticism of Trump's most ardent supporters. To them, it's not about the money — it's about showing that they care by making a disastrous investment.
"If I lose it, fine. If I make a profit, wonderful," prominent conservative commentator Carol Swain, who put in $1,000, told WaPo. "But at the end of the day, I wanted to show my support."
"There’s such an effort to destroy him and strip his wealth away, and so much glee about it," she added. "I would like to see him be a winner."

Garelick was among three men who were arrested and charged last June in the insider trading case. The other two, Florida venture capitalist Michael Shvartsman and his brother Gerald Shvartsman, pleaded guilty last month to participating in the insider trading scheme.

I keep my investments in a low cost ETF that mimics the S&P 500. Not very exciting, but it works for me.

Same here. I have only a few single stocks that I purchased during large selloffs. Other than that, it’s basically a mix of IVV/VOO, QQQ/QQQM and SCHD. No bonds and 10-15% cash staying liquid in a money market
