If you go check in on chose suffering from Covid in this fashion, likely 1-10% are normal weight people who have no health conditions.

That's why I'm not getting the vaccine - it's very unlikely I end up burdening the system like this. Furthermore, I've been to the hospital FIVE TIMES IN MY LIFE. Twice for stitches.

If everyone had spent as little time in the hospital as me, we just about wouldn't even need a healthcare system.

That's why I have no guilt about this at all.

If Canadians had a private healthcare option, this wouldn't even be an issue. I could just buy private healthcare, and my use would be paid for privately, and none of your damn business.

If your healthcare insurance was a group plan and the fellow who spent over a year in the hospital with COVID was on the same plan as you, everyone on the plan would pay higher premiums. At least that is how it works here in the U.S.

I've been on a Medicare Advantage plan for about 12 years. If I go to the ER I pay a $90. copay which is waived if I am admitted to the hospital. Here in the U.S. there is urgent care which one uses if they have a non-emergency and can't get in soon enough to see their regular doctor. My copay for that service is $40.

In the U.S. If someone goes to emergency and the hospital determines it is not an emergency, they don't legally have to treat you. If you don't have a doctor and you need a prescription for antibiotics, you should go to urgent care.

People with no healthcare insurance pay between $100 and $200 for an urgent care visit. The average cost of an emergency room visit for folks without healthcare insurance is $2,200. It can run a lot more if extensive treatment is needed.
