Von Braun was only a Nazi because he had to be. He was a BRILLIANT scientist. He really didn't want to know what his rockets were being used for. His dream from boyhood was to build a rocket to the moon and beyond.

This second quote is especially baseless, he's just guessing.

There is *no* way to know for sure, and there is contradictory evidence. What I want to know is why you rocket scientists haven't figured out that 99% of Germans claimed to be anti-nazi after the war, which makes the denials farcical most of the time, except to suckers.

Elisabeth Schwarzkopf who died last week, and Leni Reifenstahl who passed a couple of summers ago also claimed that they were only doing it for political expediency even with evidence that they were fanatics.

Pumpster, my uncle worked in the missile propulsion field and he knew Werner Von Braun as a very good friend and a house guest. It isn't guessing on my part.

i think pumpster's just envious b/c you got to know people who made history . . .

i don't think the canadian space program really got off the ground . . . so he didn't have that chance.
