My dad is starting to slow down so we are buying a house with a nice in-law and it’s been nothing but a clusterfuck the whole way.
NYC mayor and governor have the city so screwed up that everyone is leaving the city and moving to the suburbs.

Great when selling CalvinH dads house but a nightmare trying to buy.

Literally closing the door behind me when the new owners pulled in with their movers.
Owners of the house we bought were missing some paperwork so we has to close two days later so we had to pay the movers per day to hold my dads stuff.
...and first night here I wake up at 2:30 am to find my dad going into the garage looking for the bathroom and last night I wake up in my room with my dad asking me where the bathroom was.

I’ve been renovating and upgrading ever since. It never seems to end. But with an acre of land and a fenced yard my dog is very happy. I even have a hammock now... very comfy.

Dads struggling and it sucks.
We haven't fenced in the yard and probably won't for now. My father likes to sit on his chair and look out his patio door and see the deer and such.

My neighbor next door lives on two acres. He built a two car garage apartment for his father in law in his back yard... but the gentleman died before he could move into it. :'(
I am surprised he didn’t turn it into a rental unit; he just uses it for storage.

No fences for now, the deer sometimes come right up to the bird feeder in the middle of the yard and up to the back porch.
The closer the deer the happier pops is.

He has a tiny dog that only barks when there are deer in the yard. We have a bigger mutt that barks a lot which pisses him off.

I have the same issue, but am lucky to have a 5 foot dropoff into the woods to dump them.
But am waiting, since if I do it now, tomorrow will look as if I did nothing...have to wait for most to fall.

I haven't bought the extra bagger yet so if I keep waiting for more to fall I'll have to stop every 5 feet to empty.
Luckily I have spots in the front and backyard to empty.
We put drainage in the backyard {never dried this year} so next year I'll put in a cup and flag a course employee gave me so I'll have a place to practice. Not going to try and do a putting green but I'll have a chipping area.

My wife had to make two pumpkin pies for Thanksgiving.
I was upstairs and I heard ''BUBBA NO!!!!!!" a plate clatter and lots of noise. As a smart man I decided to stay upstairs and watch
tv. When I came downstairs later I was informed that the dog ate the whole pie.

The price of real estate outside NYC is going through the roof with people fleeing Manhattan. My daughter was looking to buy her first house about a six months ago in NJ found every house she wanted to buy at the full asking price had a bidding war on it. She ended up buying a fixer upper and is slowly getting it together. She is lucky she has the means to do it.
I know a girl that said her mother in NJ had a knock at her door. A guy said I want to buy your house. She said, " It's not for sale. He made an incredible offer and said call my attorney if interested. She sold her house that she was in for many decades at warp speed.
My house in Jersey I thought was worth X amount and I was talking to a neighbor. He said my house was worth 150K more than I thought and confirmed it looking at comps. These Democrat controlled cities are crashing under mismanagement. People and businesses are fleeing.

Only a small pond and streams so no fishing but we are just a few miles from Long Island sound so plenty of salt water fishing.
Before we sold Clavinsr’s house you could fish off the beach in his backyard.
On a side note when my daughters hermit crab died we put it on leaves and floated it in the stream across the street.
I wanted to make a wood float and pyre and shoot little flaming arrows at it but my idea was nixed >:( >:(

Or just do hourly or a local rate. We'll fuck you on gas charges, traffic, weather, long distance carries, stair charges. Assembly/reassembly charges for unscrewing a lampshade.
So triple the fucking estimate. Better yet, get a U-Haul.

So we had the wood floors downstairs done over last weekend.
We put the cats upstairs and they had the bedrooms and bathroom to stay and we blocked them from coming down. So they were up there from 12 sat until 5 sun.
…So I let them down and myself and two floor guys were downstairs and my old cat came down and went to each of us and let us have it. We got a earful of meows and I’m sure what he was saying wasn’t nice :o

Before i leave for work in the morning i check in with him,let his dog out and fix his bedroom and living room tv which he either fucked up or turned of during the night.
Aide comes over a little while later and she fixes his bedroom and living room tv which he either fucked up or tuned off.
After I get home from work and the gym I check in on him and fix his bedroom and living room tv which he either fucked up or turned off.
Next day, repeat.

It was a good and sometimes not so good run but we are to the point where ClavinSr has to be moved to a memory care facility .
He needs 24hr care now and we can't do that at home.

It was a good and sometimes not so good run but we are to the point where ClavinSr has to be moved to a memory care facility .
He needs 24hr care now and we can't do that at home.

We found a really good place within 5 minutes of my brother. sucks because it's 3 hours from me but it has it's benefits.
My brother is a musician who works nights so he'll see him a lot during the day.
Talk about fucked up it's somewhere around $6000 less a month to have him there instead of close to me!

Good to have family close by and the bonus of saving 6k a month. 3 hours is a decent drive but not obscene. The care he's receiving should be #1 priority.

My mother's side of the family is scattered to the far reaches of the USA. Literally at one point I had relatives in Florida and Alaska.
I don't see them that often.
Most of my father's side lives within the Tri-state area. All of our weddings, funerals, holidays, and picnics have a bunch of us.
Easter for some reason is when everyone can make it. Some family goes with in-laws on Xmas Eve and see's the other side of the family Xmas day type of thing. But not Easter everyone shows up and for the last three years in been at my house. Last year we had 61! All getting along every time we get together.
...Some drunker then others at times.
