     As others have pointed out, it's likely an urban legend about CBS. This is the documentary film that was shot. It was a documentary that Arnold and his friend Paul Graham produced. Go to the end and read the credits. Graham produced it, and they had their own director, editors and a whole crew, including the credit "additional cameras on contest night", which means they didn't get the footage from CBS, they shot it themselves. No mention of CBS anywhere. And full access, including backstage. Very clear that Graham and Arnold had exclusive rights to shoot the 1980 Olympia and made this documentary. CBS was not involved.

Yes, controversy came out years later ,so it did the Encyclopedia (new edition) came out 1999....

However I have to correct myself ,Arnold only talks  1980 Mr.O in one page in his Total Recall: My Unbelievably True Life
another gigantic book Which was released some 10 years ago .

See Arnold Run   the movie by Roland Kickinger and Bodybuilding greatest MC Bob Chick, is mainly focused on 1980 mr.O ..

Arnold did not like the movie at all, as they did not mention his kids and role as loving father"  ...and hated the attention given to 1980 mr.O  "....... I hope one day he can seat down and open up about the whole October 4 1980 .

In 1980 he was ripped,lean beyond belief . better muscle separation compared to his 1970's form .


The CBS footage remastered,  HQ, or better yet  Blu Ray will be worth the 35 years wait.
