E-Mails Show Rove's Role in U.S. Attorney Firings

New unreleased e-mails from top administration officials show that the idea of firing all 93 U.S. attorneys was raised by White House adviser Karl Rove in early January 2005, indicating Rove was more involved in the plan than the White House previously acknowledged.

The e-mails also show that Attorney General Alberto Gonzales discussed the idea of firing the attorneys en masse weeks before he was confirmed as attorney general.

The e-mails directly contradict White House assertions that the notion originated with recently departed White House counsel Harriet Miers, and was her idea alone.

Uhm, yea, acutally he did lie... What part of that aren't you getting? He said he was kept in the dark on this.  said he couldn't be aware of all that was going on in the department but then... Rove, Gonzales discussed firings, e-mails show even beyond lying, doesn't it bother you that they targeted prosecuters that went after Jack Abermoff and Duke Cunningham?  So what's this say, if you prosecute a republican, it's your job...  I don't give a shit if Clinton did it... If he did it like this, it's just as wrong.  I'm never for that reasoning of so and so did it for justification.  It's either right or wrong, it's not right because someone else got away with it.

For political reasons and to prevent prosecutions of republicans?  That happens all the time? He said he wasn't involved, that it was his second that handled the firings.  Pretty much painted himself as out of the loop, then e-mails surfaced showing that's not true... That's a lie to congress.
