An American Airlines passenger jet traveling from Cincinnati to Phoenix encountered an apparent UFO over northeastern New Mexico Sunday afternoon.

The pilot on flight 2292 radioed around 1:00 p.m. CST and said that the unidentified object was flying right on top of them, according to a transmission recorded by Steve Douglass on his blog, Deep Black Horizon. American Airlines verified to Fox News that the transmission is from flight 2292.

"Do you have any targets up here? We just had something go right over the top of us," the pilot said in the radio transmission.

"I hate to say this but it looked like a long cylindrical object that almost looked like a cruise missile type of thing moving really fast. It went right over the top of us."

American Airlines confirmed that the radio transmission is authentic, but did not give any further comment on the possible alien encounter.

"Following a debrief with our Flight Crew and additional information received, we can confirm this radio transmission was from American Airlines Flight 2292 on Feb. 21," an American Airlines spokesperson told Fox News in a statement. "For any additional questions on this, we encourage you to reach out to the FBI."

The FBI did not immediately respond to a request for comment Tuesday.

Flight 2292 was around 37,000 feet at the time of the sighting, and Albuquerque Center did not respond because local air traffic interfered, according to Douglass. The flight went on to land in Phoenix, Arizona.

I just love the UFO fanatics- even a hubcap tossed in the air is evidence of aliens, lol.  Apparently a lot of people skipped math and physics in school.

So that means a spacecraft will have to travel at or near the speed of light (670 million miles per hour)  just to get here in 14 years. Having done that, this super advanced species (how else would you know how to build such a magnificent vehicle), just hops around taunting Navy jets for kicks. They are never able to land these spacecraft without blowing up it seems. They have perfected travel at the speed of light but can't stop. Hmm - yeah that makes sense.

And if by chance one does land safely - they hide behind boulders and only come out at night- because that's what aliens do, lol. They never actually land in a large city because they are afraid of us. They spent all that time working on their ship and no time working on defensive measures. Always that one missing piece of the puzzle.

There are unidentified flying objects-stuff showers the earth from deep space all the time. But those objects don't have aliens in them- unless they are from Mexico.

People like to fantasize about things when they have no control over their own life. It's easy to live in that dream world till you die. When Elon Musk does in fact land a team on Mars they'll be so disappointed there are no little green men.

yep, scratched the surface is the phrase, we've been doing this for 5 minutes, imagine the tech other intelligent civilisations have. the universe being 13.8 is crazy, imagine other civilisations being 2000 years ahead!!! it's really beyond comprehension
