Ok, for the last few years this catagory has turned into an us against them.... go for the throat, never surrender type back and forth. Call me naive, but there has to be at least a couple of you on both sides of the aisle who are honest enough to admit their party has some issues, and honest enough to say the other party has some points. If not.. this is just going to continue to sprial into a Liberal vs Conservative muck much like the media portrays us. I'll offer the 1st olive branch

All kidding aside, I am sorry to read about your dad. Are you and he close? Losing someone you love in that way has to be one of the most difficult situations anyone ever has to go through. My sister-in-law died from Lewy body dementia. She went from being one of the most vibrant and intelligent people to not being able to take care of herself or even know where she was when she was in her own home with 24/7 nursing care.

I honestly don't have an answer. I have no idea of a string puller. It just seems to me, in the last 10 years or so the left and right party went from middle of the road, which was tolerable, if not desired, to the losing party. There was still some working across the aisle to get things done. While they always talked smack about each other, there was a level of mutual respect. In the last decade, it just seems to me, the left moved further left, the right moved further right.... I just don't think that works. Half the country is left, half the country is right. Give or take. Trump played to the far right. Way far right.. Ignored half the counrty. Pissed them off I'm guessing. When the primaries came about, the Democrats had some far left candidates. Biden was about the most moderate. The far left got weeded out, we were left with Biden. Not all that steller, but the prospect of 4 more years of a far right wing President was enough to bring the voters out.
So I'm not sure someone is pulling strings, I think this is pretty much easily explained. IF Trump is not the candidate in 2024 I would not be surprised if the Republican nominee won and frankly I wouldn't be upset about it. I don't look forward at all to another 4 years of Biden.

I think and correct me if I am wrong, that I have always maintained and still maintain an attitude of "As bad as Biden is, Trump is worse". So that hasn't changed. I am certainly not a Biden fan. He is the lesser of the two evils (for me). What may have changed and what you may be referring to is the my lowering my gun so to speak in discussing Conservative vs Liberal. Been skimming the posts on the political board today. It seems as if there are a lot of grumpy folks posting right now. Why is that? Are Trump's legal woes causing you as much anxiety as they are apparently him?
Seems he is having a total meltdown on TRUTH Social. It is easy to tell when he is at whit's end because he resorts to posting in all caps in the middle of what must be sleepless nights.
Note that one post attributed to him that is currently circulating social media is not likely one of his. The claim is that he supposedly posted “Remember, any indictment of me is an indictment of you.” There is no proof of this being his, although it does seem like something he might say.

In truth, I consider you a good man. And as I said if I saw someone trying to harm you I would do what I could to stop it. Others here that speak as they are above morality are not worthy of friendship let alone assiting. You are. I have personally chided my liberal side of the family in the same way I have here by telling them they are supporting pedophiles with their vote. When I visited my big brother in Oregon I did not continue on to Portland even though I have family there. I did not wish to risk being into a bad situation by the pets of Democrats. I am serious. Portland is awful now.
With my family some get mad but NONE make the mistake of saying they would kick my ass in person. I will be visiting the mid-west this year mostly to see my little sister and her family. -Not going to respond to everything you wrote because I am of a 'live and let live' mindset. People are entitled to believe how they chose if their beliefs are not intended to harm others. You and I may not agree on many things, especially politically, but to my way of thinking that is okay. It is fine with me that you think Trump is the best President ever... right now I suspect he can use all the support and love he can get.
Much of Portland is on the rebound. I agree that during the riots and demonstrations of a few years ago, Portland was not a good place to visit. Even though Portland is only 12 miles from me. I avoided downtown for shopping or eating out during that time. These days parts of East Portland scare me because it seems as if someone gets murdered almost daily. When my wife and I moved to Portland we lived in southeast Portland, and it was good in 1964. Unfortunately, this has changed.
The homeless problem isn't as bad as it was a few years back. Portland's mayor and Oregon's governor are working hard to develop solutions to better deal with homelessness, including more low-income housing and banning homeless camps and individuals camping or sleeping in public places. It is not like anyone can wave magic wand and all the homeless folks will go away.
My family is in great shape. There are virtually no divorces or separations in my immediate and even much of the extended family. We seem to be a family that stays together. We are doing better at this then our fathers and mothers did or at least mine did. I know of no one in the family that is homeless, in prison, drug treatment or some other bad situation. We certainly defy the negative statistics one reads about today.
I appreciate that you would defend me if needed. Honestly, I have not ever needed defending, at least in the physical sense. I had one so-called fist fight when I was a kid... and that's it. Guess I am pretty good at picking my friends and talking my way out of or avoiding altogether bad situations. My stepdad taught me that talking through problems is a person’s best defense or way to avoid violence.

I am all for having less partisanship.
But it's going to take some help to get there.
1. A more honest media with big tech complying. If the media overwhelmingly slants one way, and big tech follows suit with censorship, the other side will stay partisan and dig in more.
2. Both left and right have to keep the extreme ends of their parties in check.
3. People need to mature and ignore anons on social media. Many of these are bots designed for the sheer purpose to cause chaos and conflict here.
4. People need to spend more time doing things that bring happiness, take care of themselves and their families, because those type of folks generally don't spend their time online bitching.
5. Stoking fear and chaos has to become unprofitable...otherwise it will never stop..
6. Politicians stop stoking the flames to the extreme. Starts with the top with the President and his Press Secretary - I get that all politicians lie, especially this admin and the former one. But when it is blatant and easily proven, it makes the other side fight back.
There's probably more, but would require me to spend time on it, so I won't.

I used to be in the group that believed elections were "term limits" but I am no longer there. The incumbents seem to have an advantage with name recognition (Doesn't really matter much if its good or bad) and funds. So I'd like to see them both set at a term that would allow a learning curve to take place, things to get done and then a transition out phase. 8 to 10 years seems adequate with elections at the half way point just in case they really suck.

I believe this is the process I used with different results than yours. There are currently four folks on my ignore list. Only one of them is online right now. Pretty sure I've seen their posts without getting the message you described. I've gotten pretty good at ignoring people who only post negative crap without having to put them on the ignore list.
Okay checked out the ignore feature. When I click on a thread if the ignored person has posted, I see what they wrote without getting the message you mentioned. Maybe one of the mods doesn't want me ignoring my enemies or others who annoy me. LOL!

Clearly several people were there as disruptors and not just protestors or tourists as some suggest. BTW Capitol tours were banned on January 6, 2020 and the building was not open to the public. Trespassers aren’t tourists.

In Oregon it is legal to make a right turn on a red light after stopping, which is what I did and what he wrote the ticket for. I decided rather than pay the fine, I would take it to court. In court he told the judge I ran a light. The judge noticed his error and threw out the ticket. The policeman did not look happy.

A good friend of mine is a retired Portland policeman. He was hired and trained to be a policeman when he was in his twenties. There was a short period early on in his career when he enjoyed the power it gave him over others. Which is something he willingly admits. He got a kick out of harassing young lovers parked and necking in Mt. Tabor park by knocking on their steamed up window and telling them to move on. The park was and is open until midnight. Unless it was after hours, those lovers had every right to be there. -Terrible, just terrible. He should have been fired. ::) Fortunately, he mellowed out over time.

All I see when someone posts that is someone I ignored is "You have ignored this person click here if you want to see their post" or something similar. I just started this in the last 10 days and life is so much better
Yes. This is the exact process I followed. Although I set that list up a while ago so maybe something has changed. I will add some random person and see what happens.
When you get this message, how did you access the thread they posted in? There are a couple of ways to do this. One is clicking on 'Show new replies to your posts', another is clicking on 'Show unread posts since last visit' and checking the posts in a forum from the home screen and then clicking whatever thread you want to read.

My question is, why would Dominion and Smartmatic corrupt their equipment for either or any candidate for that matter? They would put their entire very profitable business in jeopardy and could face serious criminal charges and lawsuits. Dominion alone made $120 million from 19 states and 133 local governments between 2017 and 2019.

Exactly. Fraud by its very nature is done in secret, with people trying to cover their tracks and avoid getting caught. Very difficult to prove.

There are definitely some bad cops out there. Bad as in do heinous things to folks and abuse their power. Most, do not do these things. Where I always have the problem is that far too many "good cops" fall on the sword for the ones who commit heinous acts.

No idea if you know but how did the voting machine companies get their contracts? Who hires them and who pays them? What department of the government, etc? Would be interesting to know, wouldn't it?
