Last PPV was Tyson vs. Buster Douglas? Jesus man!
Well the good news, is that you probably have no idea who any current MMA fighters are. I am sadly a name whore (living in the past) and would rather watch washed up, big-name fighters, rather than hungry upstarts, who often time produce better fights.
I would suggest that you take a look at the fighter highlight reels and the top 20 KO's/Submissions threads. The UFC is the top dog as far as fighting orgs go. 95% of the best fighters are already there. Bellator is the minor leagues consisting of no names and has-beens. Bellator has a contract with Spike TV, so you can watch some of those events there (I believe the next one is on May 15th)
Are you a sports bar guy, or would you prefer to watch events at home? Onemorerep can tell you that UFC 187 (May 23) is a can't miss card.
Two great title fights, all-time greats, former champions, and interesting matchups abound. I highly recommend that you find a way to watch this PPV.
I would say that you are actually in a good spot. Since you do not know the fighters, you will be able to take everything in for what it is. Two dudes trying to beat the shit out of each other.
You have to have some buddies who watch, right? Go to the bar with them, or everyone chip in and order it.
You could always use the free links, but they usually have more pop-ups than a 70 year old on Viagra.
Hope that helped.
