about to begin prednisone

I posted this on the nutrition board, not realizing this may be the better place for it...

My girlfriend is about to begin prednisone for her back.  The side effects include muscle loss, weakness, weight gain, and water retention.  She is afraid to begin using it. 

Anyone have any experience taking it?  Side effects?

I replied on the Nutrition board so you can check that out as well. How long is she supposed to be taking it for? Like I said in my previous posts I was only taking it in about 7-10 days at a time.

I felt like it was POISON!
Shitload of sides and no real benefit, at least for me...
