People here are always shouting pray for this and pray for that but how many people really believe in the 'power of prayer' and how many are just going through the motions?

im sure most of the kneeling and standing was done when you were having "special time" with a priest?

No.

In fact, I was just the sponsor for my nephew who made his confirmation...and had to tell the priest I hadn't been to church for many years...he was chagrined

Only a moron prays.

Atheism is the only rational choice.

Did praying save Alexander the Great? Confucius? The Roman Empire? The Persian Empire? NO.

the funny thing is a lot of these religious people believe that everything is already predetermined

so what are they praying for?

So you are daying "prayer" did NOT work due to their outcomes?

But what about millions of other patients that "do" pray, and they survive?

Look, nobody knows. You tell me to prove God exists, I say prove he doesn't. I dont believe the bible in LITERAL TERMS, but, i cant say its not possible

NO, Boon. NO one does. We ALL just die. Temporary survival does NOT count.

Atheism is the only rational choice.

Only if you reduce prayer to begging and religion to fundamentalism.

I think that maybe believing in anything you think would be closer to God is a form of prayer.
