The 90's had some great music:

U2 put out some crazy, fan alienating work that stands the test of time (compare achtung baby and zooropa to anything muse, coldplay, and radiohead have ever put out)

Nirvana did some great stuff (even though i never cared for it, i acknowledge their imprtance)

Pearl Jam put out some amazing work

Soundgarden put out some amazing work

STP put out some amazing work

Oasis put out two of the most complete records of all time

Bob Dylan released one of his best records in 1997's Time Outta Mind

Dave Matthews Band, band with no electric guitar, was selling out stadiums and putting out number 1 albums and songs.

Rap was ACTUALLY GOOD, with acts like Dr. Dre, snoop, and biggie actually putting out music that meant something, as opposed to the pro black trash music that comes out today.  90's was a rebellion for rap, 00's are all about bitches, hoes, and having your own energy drink.

The indie scene also got cred in the 90's.  Because the digital revolution was occuring, everything started to get cheap in a hurry, and we saw a flurry of output from various genres and artists.  The 90's were a complete backlash to the horrible hair metal music of the 80's that dominated the pop scene.

I agree with all of that.
