Hey everyone, sorry I have dropped off posting old pics. That last year I have been travelling so much more than normal. Promoting the Arnold Classic has been kind of life changing. I have visited so many cities and countries to see every expo I can and to learn. Plus doing the security detail for the expos with Arnold, MCing shows and interviewing for NPC News online. Things have quietened down for now so I will post some more pics and share a few stories. In the mean time, i will post some shots of travelling and working with Arnold.

good stuff keep rolling

We had Rick Flair in at our City Gym about 2-3 years ago.

I had instructed my staff that the Hulk Hogan wrestling show was in town, so if any of them came in they were to be looked after. This usually involves free training and a couple of Doherty's Gym tee shirts etc.

So in walks Rick Flair that night, tanned up, peroxide blond hair, looking very Hollywood and the young guy at the desk had no idea in the world who he was. Young David charged him the $10 casual fee and sold him a couple of tees. While he was training someone came out to David and said, "Hey that's pretty cool, Rick Flair is training here" So David called me a bit rattled not knowing what to do. When he had finished training he sheepishly apologized and refunded his money for the clothes and workout. Rick was really cool and laughed it off.

From then on I called out "Whooo" every time I saw David, who unfortunately was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident a little while later at just 21.

I worked for Ric years ago, before going back to college.

I can tell you firsthand, Ric is one of the most standup guys and all-around genuinely good human beings that you could ever hope to meet.
Truly one of the best men to ever grace the business.

Here is a shot of Big Louie I took at his Olympia comeback in Helsinki. There was so much hype around his return and he didi not disappoint. Over 300b and peeled.

Great picture, that was an amazing comeback.
A few days ago I had a discussion with a friend about Lou's comeback. Being in the best shape of his life, we were both surprised that he didn't won the Master's 'O in '94.

He pitched a big stink about that loss to Robby.

Boyer was a rightful third, but the first two spots could have gone either way, IMO.

Yes they are mine. Made by Watson in the UK. Thick handles and best dumbbells I have ever used.

They must cost a fortune. Up to how much weight do you have them?

Thick bar training is great but too hard on me now.  Ten years back I would use up to 3.5 inch thick bars on chest training and sometimes for barbell curls and 2 inch for dumbbell work.  No more.  It hurts too much.  But it was great fun while it lasted!  ;D

The preferred bar thickness is very personal. I prefer a thin one for back movements, but a thick one for pressing movements since the weight is better distributed on the surface of your hand. That's why a pair of thick bar grips is a nice accessory.
