what exactly is it about the whole Rocky series, that us guys like so much.  I like to equate rocky movies to be like the guy's version of a chick flick, with many components that us guys like in the movies.(violence, training, inspirational story.)  Anyway, just wondering how many others out there find it to be one of, if not the best series of all time

They were all great films except for 5. The first film was the best.

The triumph of hard work.

The ability to overcome obstacles.

Victory of the underdog through sheer power of the will.

Rocky exemplifies the ability to overcome that which stands in his way despite the fact that the odds appear to be against him. Such quality is admirable in a male, and therefore males tend to metaphorically idolize Rocky.
