I've been watching the tribute and hearing the way his friends talk about him I don't get the impression that he was anywhere near the kind of person capable of that. I think someone else was involved and I think I he found his fam dead he just off'd himself cause he didn't want to live without them. This is all really sad and I could never imagine what I would do if I found my wife and child dead.

Met him here at a Maryland Gold's gym about 3 1/2 years ago. Was in town for a show in Baltimore and he was working out with Deal Malenko, Steven Reagal, and couple of others. I remember he was training chest and he was doing these rapid-fire push ups on the floor and doing cable cross overs. Short guy. Wasn't taller than 5'8" in person but a compact, very muscular guy. His skin up close looked hard and grainy as sandpaper.

I must admit that when I saw this story last night, I was hoping it wouldn't turn out this way. He obviously had major issues going on, and we still don't know the why's and when's, but there is absolutely no excuse for what he has done. Its disgusting.

This is a valid question. Its pure conjecture to assume that roid rage is a given when steroids are taken. Also it is unfair to assume that everyone would be equally effected in the same way by steroids. It would be safe to say that a person is likely have some preexisting instances of mental imbalance that may be exacerbated by steroid use that result in demonstrations of violence. Did anybody notice how short his arms where compared to the rest of his body.

I would say recreational drugs and pain-killers along with the lifestyle he lived for years were all factors. Traveling 300 days a year and being in pain all the time isn't exactly a great way to live.

Mr. McMahon just addressed the tribute situation.
WWE was unaware of the actual cause. They did the tribute because he died along with the family and didn't imagine that Benoit himself killed them and himself. Vince already had a 3 hour show planned and the death changed to a tribute show without knowing all of the facts yet.

While steroids may not be "directly" involved, their use and subsequent effects on his emotional state(depression) may have contributed to his actions. I know the media sensationalizes anything that has anything to do with steroids, but in this case they may have in part contributed to his actions. One of the effects of coming off a cycle of steroids is depression. Now combine this depression with his marital problems, the stress of being on the road all the time and not spending time with his family, head trauma from wrestling, and whatever mental issues he already had its not suprising that he snapped.
Today, in one of the NY papers, it said that Benoit had recently been "demoted" to ECW to help train up-and-coming wrestlers, meaning that his days as a main eventer were over.That was probably the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back.

Well, today at work I was met with my boss who requested that I send a funeral arrangement to a woman who had been an employee of my company. He then proceeded to ask me if I had heard what had happened to this employee. I had not. He then told me that this employee had recently split from her husband a couple weeks prior, but loved him so much she decided they should mend their relationship and get back together.

My dad is a retiered professional wrestler , and for that everyone has asked me that question over the past couple of days.this is exactly what I'm talking about, your post says it all.
I have meet many wrestlers, some of them I have come to know well and some I have only just meet. I did not know Benoit well. All I can say is out of all the wrestler I have meet he was one of the nicest and he was very respectful when he was around older wrestlers like my dad. He Had a passion for wrestling and it showed. When I herd the new I was very shocked and he was the last person I would have expected this kind of thing from. No matter what you may think of him now he was one of the greatest wrestlers/ workers as the old guys call it of all time. But now I guess he has ruined that legacy.
