agreed. Dorian's back was very, very good in the lat spread and christmas tree poses, but suffered on the back double bi.


Both ronnie and haney had better backs overall IMO.

  In width, it's true that Ronnie's back has matched Dorian. But in thickness, Dorian's still reigns. And when you consider the condition with witch he presented his mass, you understand why he's the standard-bearer.

since ronnie has so much (more) muscle in his back, the "standing relaxed" pics are not the best ones to detect his separation and dryness, because his lats are just jammed together with all the other muscles on his frame . . . the best pics to tell how waterlogged or not he is are the ones in which he is just beginning his lat spread, and the lats are pulled up . . . the Ronnie equivalent of the pic below . . . and I don't have any of them, but I'm sure Hulkster does.

I think ronnie's back as displayed at the 99 English grand prix represents the best overall combo of width, thickness and detail ever seen in bodybuilding.  both the rear double bi and rear lat are fantastic, and he had a great christmas tree to boot. With Dorian, you had a good rear lat spread, good christmas tree, but, in most contests, a rear double bi that was not up to the standard that his other poses set.

that is a main reason why I think that Haney's back also eclipsed dorian's - his rear double bi was not up to the standard of his rear lat spread.

Right behind him is Yates. Haney was right behind Yates and Franco Columbo right behind Haney.
It appears that the back has really evloved with each successive MR O.
