Ten people were killed by a gunman dressed in body armor and armed with a high powered rifle, while three others were wounded – two of them critically – outside and inside a Tops supermarket on Jefferson Avenue this afternoon.
A Buffalo police official at the scene and another source close to law enforcement confirmed the massacre at the supermarket.
"It’s like walking onto a horror movie, but everything is real. It is armageddon-like," said the police official at the scene. "It is so overwhelming."
One of the deceased was a recently retired Buffalo police officer who was working security at the store, both sources said.
The Buffalo News is withholding the retired officer’s identity because it could not be determined if his family had yet been notified.
As many as five bodies were found in the parking lot, the onsite police official said.

Shonnell Harris, an operation manager at the Tops, said she heard gun shots and ran frantically through the store, falling several times before exiting out the back. She saw the shooter, whom she described as a white man wearing camouflage. "He looked like he was in the Army." Harris thought she heard 70 shots.
The shooter had a camera and police are looking into whether he live streamed video from the scene, the official said.
The shooter was taken into custody and placed in a police vehicle at the scene, according to the two sources.
The shooter was cloaked in body armor and had a military grade helmet on his head.
It is unknown if he offered a reason for the massacre.
Inside the supermarket, several other victims were found, the two sources said, and some of the deceased individuals appeared to be hiding near cash register lines.
Adding to the horror, one of the sources said, was family members arriving after word spread in the community about the shooting.
Others at the scene started streaming the shooting on Facebook Live.
Will G., a dairy frozen worker at the Tops on Jefferson, said he walked into the cooler to stock milk about three minutes before the shooting. "I just heard shots. Shots and shots and shots," he said. "It sounded like things were falling over."
The worker hid in the cooler and more people joined him, he said. "I hid. I just hid. I wasn't going to leave that room."
A large police presence shut down the area north of Jefferson Avenue at Northampton Street. The Tops Markets is at the intersection of Jefferson Avenue and Riley Street, about two blocks north of Jefferson and Northampton.
Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz tweeted at 2:49 p.m. that he was aware of an "active multiple shooting event" that occurred at the Tops Markets at 1275 Jefferson Ave. He urged the public to avoid the area.

Good post I agree. However everyone in America let them steal it and did nothing about it that made a difference. People have it too good. So long as they have their TVs, cars, good food etc. they are not going to risk rocking the boat. It's when people start to lose shit that things will happen. Buffalo supermarket shooter was radicalized by New Zealand mosque killer
The man accused of killing 10 people at a supermarket in Buffalo on Saturday was influenced by a New Zealand white supremacist who murdered dozens of people in a pair of shootings three years ago, according to a 180-page manifesto posted online.
Payton Gendron, 18, wrote a terrifyingly cold “questions and answers” section in the manifesto that spelled out the white nationalist beliefs that he said led him to plot the Buffalo attack.

He said the “particular person that radicalized (him) the most” was Brenton Tarrant, the man who murdered 51 people in shootings at two New Zealand mosques in 2019.
The manifesto also named several other people who inspired Gendron, including Dylann Roof, the young man who killed nine Black people at a church in South Carolina in 2015, and Anders Breivik, the Norwegian man who killed 77 people in 2011.
In the manifesto, Gendron said he lived his entire life in Southern New York. He described himself as an engineering student at SUNY Broome.
Police said the killer drove from “hours away” to carry out the attack. Gendron is reported to live in Conklin, N.Y., about a three-and-a-half hour drive from Buffalo.
“The truth is my personal life and experiences are of no value,” read the manifesto. Gendron wrote that he got his white nationalist ideology “mostly from the internet” and that there was “little to no influence on my personal beliefs by people I met in person.”
The chilling document described how Gendron planned the attack to the tiniest detail.

“Zip code 14208 in Buffalo (the zip code for Tops Friendly Market) has the highest Black percentage that is close enough to where I live,” Gendron wrote.
He also said he bought body armor to protect himself from bullets fired by security at the store. Police leaders said Gendron gunned down the security guard, a retired Buffalo police officer, before continuing his rampage.
Gendron’s manifesto also included pages and pages of anti-Semitic rants — but his attack plan focused solely on Black people.
“I was never diagnosed with a mental disability or disorder,” he wrote. “I believe to be perfectly sane.”
Gendron was arrested at the Tops Friendly Market after he shot 13 people, killing 10 of them. Of the 13 he shot, 11 were Black, police said. He was charged with murder, and investigators said he could face terrorism and hate crime charges.

I saw the video, it goes kinda like this:
Drives into parking lot of supermarket.
Gets out and immediately shoots a white/hispanic woman who was walking towards him in the head. She immediately drops.
There was a black guy who was standing several feet behind her who also fell over at the same time. He shoots him straight away. Then he shoots one or two people who were near the entrance of the supermarket, they fall down.
All the above happened while he was still standing near the drivers door of his car.
Then he walks toward the entrance and fires several shots through the front window of the supermarket.
Then he gets to the entrance and shoots again one of the people he previously shot, in the head (old lady).
Then he enters the supermarket and sees two black ladies on the ground, one of them crawling away from him. The other on her back. They must have been the people shot through the window.
He shoots the crawling lady then walks to the lady on her back, reloads and shoots her in the head.
Then he continues down along the check outs and shoots a white/hispanic guy who seemed to be hiding against the wall behind vending machines, he falls down.
Then he turns to the right and sees a white/hispanic guy cowering between the checkouts. He doesn't shoot him and just says "sorry".
Turns and goes back the way he came and then the video ends.

Part of that manifesto he wrote addresses this. He thinks this will make him a big star, and that a trial will allow him to speak on white genocide/replacement theory, etc..... Someone who claimed to see the cops grab him, said he held the rifle under his chin like he was going to off himself, then when the cops started talking to him, and he felt safe, he tossed it to the side, and let them arrest him.

I saw the video, it goes kinda like this:
Drives into parking lot of supermarket.
Gets out and immediately shoots a white/hispanic woman who was walking towards him in the head. She immediately drops.
There was a black guy who was standing several feet behind her who also fell over at the same time. He shoots him straight away. Then he shoots one or two people who were near the entrance of the supermarket, they fall down.
All the above happened while he was still standing near the drivers door of his car.
Then he walks toward the entrance and fires several shots through the front window of the supermarket.
Then he gets to the entrance and shoots again one of the people he previously shot, in the head (old lady).
Then he enters the supermarket and sees two black ladies on the ground, one of them crawling away from him. The other on her back. They must have been the people shot through the window.
He shoots the crawling lady then walks to the lady on her back, reloads and shoots her in the head.
Then he continues down along the check outs and shoots a white/hispanic guy who seemed to be hiding against the wall behind vending machines, he falls down.
Then he turns to the right and sees a white/hispanic guy cowering between the checkouts. He doesn't shoot him and just says "sorry".
Turns and goes back the way he came and then the video ends.

The 180-page document allegedly written by the white teenager charged with killing 10 people in a grocery store in a predominantly Black Buffalo neighborhood Saturday mentions the Jewish communities in Lakewood, Toms River and Jersey City, authorities say.
Ocean County Sheriff Michael Mastronardy said he was notified Saturday that Lakewood and Toms River were in the document authorities said was written by alleged shooter Payton Gendron, according to Patch.
The towns are listed among others in New York that have large Jewish communities, which Gendron wrote are “deplorable.”
“We reached out to those communities earlier today, and are working with our partners, departments and chiefs,” Mastronardy told the Asbury Park Press. “We monitor the activity at those locations.”
There was no specific threat to the communities in Ocean County, the sheriff said.
Gendron is charged with murder in a terrorist attack that authorities have said was a planned assault on nonwhite and non-Christian people meant to drive them from the country. He drove 200 miles to Upstate New York from his home in a small town near the Pennsylvania border. He said he planned to keep killing if he escaped the scene of the supermarket shooting, Buffalo police said.
Federal authorities were working to confirm the authenticity of the 180-page document allegedly written by Gendron.
The document also outlines a racist ideology rooted in a belief that the U.S. should belong only to white people. All others, the document said, were “replacers” who should be eliminated by force or terror.
In the portions of the manifesto that mentions Jewish communities, first reported by the Lakewood Scoop, Gendron verbally attacks areas with Hasidim populations, saying they are insular, care only about furthering their religious beliefs and are a drain on local populations’ resources. Lakewood is home to a majority Orthodox Jewish community, as well as a smaller Hasidic, or Hasidim, community. Towns that border Lakewood, including Toms River and Jackson, also have large Jewish populations.
Jersey City is also home to a Hasidic community, which was also targeted in an attack.
In the fall of 2019, a man and woman went on a shooting rampage, killing a Jersey City police officer, then firing in a kosher market in Jersey City’s Greenville neighborhood, killing three more people. The suspects died in a gun battle with police.
And last month in Lakewood, Jews were targeted by a man who stabbed one, carjacked another and struck two with a vehicle in a crime spree authorities allege was motivated by hate.
