I work out in a semi-private gym, a converted former auto body shop. The DB's go up to 220lbs (bar about 3 ft). If you add industrial magnets to the end plates, you can probable get to 240 or more. Very few guy's bother using them for flat/inclines, too much of a pain in the arse. Really need two spotters (probably 4, 2 on each side for extra caution). Lot of extra bother for 2 to 4 partial reps, in my view. Mostly used for row's, partial Hi-pulls and shrugs. Good Luck.

At the gym i workout at we had the highest 120s. some fatfuck guy that was semi retarded was doing shrugs with them and dropped them every set and fucking broke them. they werent even paid for by the gym someone else brought them in.

140's however about 4 people use them i use them for shrugs and db rows but i can only get about 4 with good form. the benches at my new golds suck. the rack is to high and sticks out to much so you tend to hit it when you bench.

My last gym, 130lbs (Worlds), the gym before that, 160lbs (Powerhouse)

Any of you guys know a good place to buy dumbbells larger than 100lbs? Maybe some of you that own a gym know a good source. Trying to find a place that sells and ships them for cheap, or at least, a reasonable price.
I'm thinking my best bet is to order them locally (play it again sports) and have them shipped to the store I'm buying them from.
