« on: April 10, 2024, 08:52:32 AM »
Peary has since passed away in 1991, but Mabel still lives in Alliance in the same house her & Peary bought and actually printed some of the copies of Iron Man. now 107 years old.

She does... Daily reps on the magic circle, like a hoola-hoop...
With 100 lb plates all around...

When I was around 17 I saw that magic squat thing in a garbage heap in the city I lived in. I was thinking about taking it. I know no one on earth walking by it knew what it was but I did. Foolishly I left it. I wish I had it.

A lot of them must've got thrown away over the years. I saw one being thrown away during during a HS gym clean out years ago too. I was a kid, but if I had the space back then, I might've taken it. Such an odd thing.

This was probably the inspiration for the hex bar.   =   The Trap Bar, also known as a Hex Bar, was invented in the mid-80s by competitive powerlifter Al Gerard as a way to train around his lower back injury.

You'd probably get a pretty penny for it today on ebay or whatever...
Lots of irongame collectors around these days.

I recently sold some stuff. ($4,500.00)
A Thomas Inch bell (500.00), 3 sets of Jackson Globes for 1K each (3K), an IronMaster d-bell for 1K.
All local guys who just came and picked them up (no shipping)...

I got an offer for 2K for my other Ironmaster, but Im keeping that one for now).

Was it emotional to part with that stuff?

Nope, collected for decades, now I'm done. Had some friends die with houses full of Iron where the wife/kids had to deal with it.
Don't want to do that to my family if I seize up...
Funk also knows the people I'm talking about.
Had my fun with it, but my interest in that aspect of it has subsided. Was good to see it go to some good people.
I still enjoy seeing others collection (Like the great one Funk posted last week, some of my stuff is in his collection).

I forgot I also sold a large Jackson Globe Barbell for 1K... so $5,500.00, rather than stuff lying on my garage floor in the way.
(Forgot) And $700.00 for a set of Milo Duplex bells ($6,200.00).
Now I need to get rid of the thousands (literally) of books and mags I have in storage...

What did I buy with that money??  A set of older Powerblocks for 400.00 on Marketplace  :)
Really liking these things.

:D I was expecting this right after I posted the comment. As a kid IronMan was my favorite comic.

Yep, it was best before 1986 when it was sold to John Balik but was still good even after.
