Strange BP
« on: August 01, 2021, 06:32:15 AM »
So the reason I bought this cuff in the first place is because I was having really high Systolic readings. Over the last few months I thought I had willed them back into a normal range. I have not had my coffee yet. I have not done any exercise yet. I was feeling not great this am so I decided to check. My Systolic is creeping back up again but my diastolic appears to be ok. Resting pulse is still a little high. Having a coffee now then was planning to head to the beach for a walk. Just not sure why it is spiking again any Getbig Doctors? I took it 3 times to make sure it wasn’t a bad reading keeps showing the same thing

F*ck me!  I've never seen a reading that high - I thought anything from 140/90 onwards was bad news, but Dr Google says:

What to do if your blood pressure reading is 187/121

A blood pressure reading of 187/121 is cause for concern. The first step is to take another reading to confirm your blood pressure.

You may want to calm down before getting another blood pressure reading. Lie down and rest for a few minutes.

Call the doctor if several readings are above 210/130 but you have no symptoms. If the doctor isn’t available go to urgent care or an emergency room to be assessed for hypertensive urgency.

A blood pressure reading of 187/121 coupled with symptoms such as headache, nausea, blurry vision, chest pain and shortness of breath point to a hypertensive emergency.

This is a potentially life-threating issue and you should call 911 immediately.

If these values are real, what you are experiencing is what's called a hypertensive crisis or emergency. Here's the exact definition of that diagnosis:

Hypertensive emergencies are diagnosed if there is a systolic blood pressure higher than 180 mmHg or a diastolic blood pressure higher than 120 mmHg with the presence of acute target organ damage (1-6).

These kind of blood pressures can be deadly. If those are your real numbers, you should go to a hospital and get this evaluated. Either you need blood pressure medications (if not on them already) or your blood pressure medications need to be adjusted accordingly in order to provide you with better BP management.

Blood pressure in that range can be deadly, as it can lead to heart attacks and/or possibly strokes (hemorrhagic strokes to be more exact). Not to mention, that other end organs (eyes, kidney etc) can suffer from the effects of these kind of chronic elevated BP levels.

If this is real, you need to get this properly evaluated. Please do not take this as medical advice, I'm just a random GetBigger. Instead, take this as a sign of genuine concern from a fellow human being.

OMR's post reminded me - are you still fucking with those Diurex?  If you suddenly stopped using them after you relieved your edema this could be a rebound from that..??

Don't you have a personal physician you can call?

Mine was up around that while having massive spasms during my meningitis hospital stay. They were worried then, and I was already in the hospital. Get yourself checked out dude.

I remember when my BP dropped down to the 50s years ago. I had a grey out and was in the process of passing out. I couldn't see, feel, or hear anything. I only saw gray. Scarey shit. Luckily I was at the doctor office and they were able to catch me before I hit the floor. When they got me into a seated or flat position, I came right back. I took hydrocodone for a wisdom tooth removal, that caused me to have this reaction. In your case it must be something you are taking that is causing this. I would just use trt and ai. I would stop taking hgh and hcg(it caused my BP to rise to 160).

Very dangerous blood pressure and resting heart rate.  Your heart is the most important muscle.  Cut the self prescribed recreational bodybuilding drugs. More cardio and less lifting.  I can only imagine how high your blood pressure spikes when you lift. You don't want to be in your 50's with your first heart attack or stroke.

You’ll be fine. Most of the heavier guys at your local PL meet are walking around with an equal or higher reading.

For now, assuming no other symptoms, take some Carditone and Cialis, which will drop your readings virtually overnight. Then go to a cardiologist and get on meds. They may not work however if it’s your weight that is causing the high readings. Your only alternatives at that point will be to live with it or drop 30-40 pounds.
