I carry one when I'm working abroad, along with a Leatherman. Used to have a SOG SEAL pup, which I really liked and may purchase again. Right now it's a cheap lock knife but I'll upgrade to another SOG or ESEE 4 when I'm home for the holidays. Prob not worth going too deep down the rabbit hole with these things unless you're really relying on it.

Where 'abroad' !?.

Just bringing Swiss Army 1 to the airport = lock up !.

Same as some others - my battered old faithful Handyman - bought in '93, so that's what? 28 years old?  Jesus - older than all my kids!  :P

Mine is really battered, must be 35 years old  :D

Mainly conflict zones. Currently in Middle East. In my experience, you can get almost anything through most airports if it's in your hold luggage. Obviously don't take a knife in your hand carry.

You can have a Swiss Army multi tool in yours pockets on the streets of Istanbul or Lebanon !.

Every airline & airports have a list of prohibited items , it's 2021 not 1999 !. Inform yourself !.

You can buy drinking water @ the airport , but you will NOT take 1/2 L of liquid on the flight !.

Detectors & 360 degrees  body scanning is on all airports !.

Try to bring a Spyderco on airports like Singapore, Tokyo, Sydney,...........   ;D ;D ;D

Again, it's 2021  ;)

Can you read, you fucking moron? I've literally just flown from SE Asia to Europe, to the Middle East. Everywhere I work, I have a Leatherman, a knife, and my own trauma kit including injectable painkillers, intravenous fluids, needles, etc. I've taken all this stuff with me in my hold luggage on both commercial and chartered flights numerous times.

At no point would I have this stuff in my pockets or in my hand carry when I'm going through an airport. I'm literally just away to leave in a vehicle now and head to an area with active fighting. I have all of this stuff packed on me. How did it get here? Magic?

& do you wear helmet/bullet proof jacket @ the airports too ..............

Parle vu France !. ;)

Been carrying for almost 40 years.  Just qualified with my aging eyes per the Federal law I carry under and I think I missed three times after 90 shots. It's a new gun and I'm not thrilled with the trigger. I have to get use to it. Wish I had the vision I had in my younger days. My son in the Army Airborne has 20/15 vision. He can see a flea on a dog at 100 yards.
Which division is your son in?

Do they still do jumps?  I read an article a few years ago that said airborne divisions were no longer practicing jumps and were like other infantry divisions.

Haha, no, I'm a fellow Brit. Gotta go with the classic shades, mate. I refuse to dress down for anything. I get a good slagging for it but I love it.

Aah, I hadn't realised you were one of us - good to know  8)

Yes they are doing jumps. My son has jumped out of prop planes, jets and helicopters. Jumped out of a plane in the middle of winter at night in northern Alaska. He needs to jump to keep his qualifications. They are in the process of changing the names from Airborne to Air Assault but it hasn't hit their unit yet.
