Talked To Death -

.

HBO's look at the talk show industry from the late 90's. Follows basic production through some of the larger scandals to hit the talk show circuit. Included is the infamous Jenny Jones gay murder case. It lulls a bit in the middle, but is bookended by two interesting stories. It's become a pretty hard to find doc, as it always gets pulled by HBO or the talk shows themselves.

Harvest of Shame, famous documentary about the perils migrant farmers faced in the US for decades. I know it doesn't sound exciting, but it is a very fine piece of film making, that makes a person glad for what they have -

Frank Terpil - Confessions of a Dangerous Man -

.

A joint American and British look at Frank Terpil, a supposedly ex- CIA agent who went rogue in the early 70's, and was involved in many of the arms dealings, and other spycraft that went on in that decade. A little slow in parts for the modern viewer, but a very interesting subject that shows how things really go on behind the scenes.

One of my favorites (not sure it's a textbook documentary) is on Netflix.  It's called The Seven Five.  It chronicles the corruption in New York's 75th precinct in the 80's and early 90's.

If the name looks familiar, it's because the US Oscar winning film on the same subject was based on this mini - series.

Coming Soon:

Class Action Park: The World's Most Dangerous Amusement Park. Official Documentary Trailer

During its 1980s heyday, New Jersey’s Action Park was known as the world’s most dangerous amusement park.

It was as a lawless land, ruled by drunk teenage employees and frequented by drunker teenage guests. The rides ignored basic notions of physics, common sense, and safety. The end result lay somewhere between Lord of the Flies and a Saw movie.

But despite countless injuries and deaths, Action Park is looked back at fondly as an insane—but insanely fun—rite of passage. The scars it left? Badges of honor.

Class Action Park is the first-ever feature documentary to explore a place that has long since entered the realm of myth. The film peels away the trappings of nostalgia to reveal the shocking truth behind the park and its genius madman founder.

There are two different Aaron Hernandez docs out right now.  A 3 part one on Netflix and a 2 part one on the I.D. channel (Investigation Discovery).
Both are worth a watch.
