Title: NFL Thread
Post by: Irongrip400 on August 17, 2015, 06:43:18 AM
Official thread.  Will keep bumping when they're winning, whilst shizzo will keep bumping during the losses.  I have another Ravens/Pats playoff matchup for this year.

Patriots kind of had a shitty offseason, especially in regards to their secondary.

But all that's been lost in the deflategate garbage.

Be happy Lee Evans dropped that TD in the AFCCG in 2011, or it would've been a repeat of 2000  ;D

Third preseason game tomorrow. Big night for Joe Cool. Going to be without a few starters though. Hoping Breshad has at least 700yds this season.

First team looked stellar.  Steve Smith showing he's still a viable number one. Question marks at back up running back, and back ups on defense in general. Stoked to see what Crockett Gilmore will do. I have him as a sleeper pick for a good fantasy tight end.

Irongrip, how did it feel for your Ravens to blow two, 14 point leads against the Patriots? That had to be a devastating loss.

I still can't believe the Patriots won the superbowl.  That was a very stressful ending to that game, but I wouldn't change anything since they pulled it out in the end.

I am very pleased with the Brady/Belichick era. You can't complain about 4 superbowl wins and six overall appearances during that timeframe.

It will be very interesting to see what happens when Brady, Belichick, and Kraft are no longer there.  :-\

It was a kick in the guy, because I actually thought they were going to win. I don't know what it is, but they always seem to play great games against each other, and like I said, I see it again this year. I have my annual $100 laid down on Baltimore to win it all this year.

I'm not sure they would have beaten Seattle by I'm pretty sure they beat the Giants had Lee Evans not been a douche.

Surprised at some of the cuts, especially Asa Jackson. I don't trust Campanaro as a return man. Maybe Oz finds someone of the scrap heap this week.

Man, now that UPINTHEMGUTS doesn't post anymore, I have zero people on the bandwagon. Shizz, there's still room bro.

I'm hoping that this was just two good defenses playing each other. I'd hate to think Peyton fell off that much. That said, sucks to see Suggs go down for the season.

Oh, hey Irongrip, didn't see you in this thread. How you doing?  ;D

The Patriots will be getting a tough test in week 2. They have to travel to Buffalo, and play the Bills.

a Rex Ryan defense usually plays stout D against the Patriots, and the Patriots definitely have to worry about the weapons that Buffalo has with Watkins, McCoy, Harvin, Clay etc......

The Patriots can no longer be automatically penciled in as division winners  :-[

AFC East is undefeated.

What about the real possibility of the Seahawks starting 0-2? They have to play in Green Bay on sunday night  :-X

Mariota was incredible.  Aside from the fact he has all the tools, I'm thinking the pace of the Oregon offense made his transition to the NFL easier.  Only one game, but he looked pretty darn good.

Yes, Upshaw has like four sacks for his career. Hopefully Oz picked another diamond in the rough in Z Smith. Shizz, beware the Bills...

So Eli Manning (not Coughlin) told Rashad Jennings (Giants RB) to purposely not score, late in the 4th quarter, when a touchdown would have put them up 10 with only a few minutes left? What on earth was he thinking!

Because Manning / Coughlin were so stupid I had to deflect.

I equate this to what Carroll did in the SB, just giving the game away when there was no reason to....and they messed up on so many levels - telling Jennings not to score, pass play on 3rd, kicking FG on 4th, then squib kick, the prevent D.............colossal series of mistakes.  Changing any one of them gives them a cheap win they didn't deserve overall.

Eli said he thought Dallas was out of TOs when he told Jennings that....thought he would take two knees and that would be it.....but still, after that.......huge mistake.

Keep the faith man. You never know with that division. The Giants can beat the Falcons at home, and Philly and Dallas play each other.

You guys really need Cruz back. You 3rd receiver can't catch for shit either.

Maybe, but the Giants backed into the playoffs in '07 and '11. You dont necessarily want them to have a great regular season. The Giants arent particularly good at front running.

You just want them to make the dance.

I'm not a big believer that this is a special "skill" they possess.  It just happend.

Quote
Just how important that index finger — and the rest of his damaged hand — is remains to be seen, and the Giants are at least skeptical about his ability to play again any time soon. Last week they got their first up-close look at his hand since his July 4 fireworks accident and, according to a team source, the damage was far worse than reports had indicated. He was known to have lost his right index finger, fractured his thumb and suffered other burns. Reportedly, he lost part of his thumb and suffered damage to his middle finger, too.

Can you find that? I can't find it anywhere. Seriously been looking.

The Patriots organization has been fined massive $$ and had draft picks taken away for cheating.   Twice.  So, it's a fact that they do.

Brady should destroy the Giants secondary.

Brady should destroy the Giants secondary.
Keyword is" should" I have already been burned multiple times by thinking the Giants were over matched.

Ill give you that this is clearly the worst/banged up version of a Giants D that the Patriots are used to facing.

They wont have an answer for Edelman and Gronk though.

We will see.......

Good game fellas........whew!!!!!!!

Missed opportunities on both sides but I think the Giants blew the clock management on that last drive.

Hopefully Edelman's injury isnt too bad.

It feels good to finally beat the Giants  :D

The previous years they've met in the regular season, the games were always close and the Giants always won in the Superbowl.

Will be interesting if it goes 3 for 3.

Edelman has a broken foot, but is likely to come back this season.

Just heard that Victor Cruz is officially out for the season. He will have surgery on his calf.

eagles find new ways to lose every week, blocked punt allowed, missed 32 yard field goal, batted ball at line of scrimmage for a td. mark the choker sanchez going for a td at the 12 yd line third down throws an interception in endzone, when a field goal would have put them ahead with 2 minutes to go.final dolphins 20- iggles 19. :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

Amendola and LB Jamie Collins ruled out for tonight's game against the Broncos. I wouldn't be surprised if the Patriots lose this game.

Might turn out to be a blessing in disguise.

Why? Maybe 19-1 is better with one loss now vs how it was in 2007...

Both Cincinnati and Denver lose today. Couldn't have worked out any better. Now, the Patriots can regain the number 1 seed with a win over the Texans.

A one TD win against the worst team in the AFC East.

Nothing to write home about.

No letters written.

Only interest is the fleeting chance of the playoffs...and then hope.

But they should have won this division easily....all poor coaching and stupid shit.

Agree.

They should have walked away with it after the Romo injury and the Eagles implosion.

On paper, some people are saying Washington could have it.

I'm undecided. They are all so bad.

I have to just hold out hope they make it, then do what they did the last two times.

The way they played NE is giving me the false hope.

Also, nobody is talking about Seattle.  They look dangerous now.

You know, Earl, I wasn't even going to say anything about the loss today, but I had to. Fucking Ravens gave their all to win this one. Would t be surprised to see them rest the entire team against Cincy lol.

I will not fall for Grape Ape's blatant troll bait.................... . ;)

I am definitely going to be a Broncos fan, for tonight's game against the Bengals. The Patriots need that 1st seed, and the bye.

P.S. I did disagree with Bill's call on the coin toss, but ultimately, I trust his judgment.

The Patriots played one of the worst games I have ever seen in the Brady/Belichick era.

Especially with homefield on the line.

They have not shown much in the last six weeks.

They'll get people back, but their offensive line could be their downfall.

Brady is mediocre when pressured.

Still, the AFC is flawed enough that they should get past it.

Seattle/Arizona/Carolina could beat them though.

That WAS a huge win.   Vegas line had it close so it appeared somebody knew what they were talking about.

I needed Arizona to beat Miami. San Deigo losing helps. Reality is that unless we win the division, we don't get in. We play Houston at home last game of the season. It's just nice to be playing meaningful football in December, as a Titans/Oilers fan it has been a while.
