Never read the comic book or heard of it before.

This show is pretty wild.

Off today and finished this  up. I thought it was pretty good! I was going to post a thread, I'm sure  there's a lot of agenda pushing that will lead to boycotts.

Wasn't really expecting much with the "superheroes gone bad" trope, but was pleasantly surprised. Had some pretty good twists and turns, some pretty good deaths, good characters, good pacing.

I rarely, if ever, watch television.  I tried to view "Stranger Things" but it just plain sucked like listening to goats sing.  I have no problem with others watching TV, I just don't get it anymore.  Yeah...I am old.  ;D

But most TV is CRAP, LOL!

didn't read the comic books and was surprised to read that the sexual harassment storyline was from the comics. Thought for sure that was a new addition.
From what I've read, the comics are a lot darker than the show.

Did they actually talk about the name "the boys" anywhere during the show? I know in the comic they give the backstory for the name, I was working from home while watching most of this, so I know I missed a few things, but the title is actually pretty sucky without any explanation.

The lead guy refers to his "boys" once or twice.

The title of the show didn't make sense to me as I had not heard of the comic.

One of the best comics ever. I read most of what Garth Ennis writes and The Boys took the piss out of the Superhero comics amazingly.

The show is different but I didn't care, it's actually better not knowing what's happening. They make some stuff the same or similar which is fine. Especially with Social media around now when it wasn't much when the comics were written. Comics can explain or leave stuff out that a TV show like this can't really do as well. Changing 'Jack from Jupiter' into the Invisible dude was very smart as both are 'The Boys' version of the Martian Manhunter from the Justice League just a little different to suit TV better over a comic.

The Left's bullshit didn't really make it into the show, they changed a few characters around like the main head of the boys being a woman (but with a purpose), A-Train being black (probably more racist LOL) and Mallory being a woman but they are very minor things.

I bought Amazon Prime just to watch it and it was worth it. Don't really watch TV but Amazon has some good shit.

True.  He's been divorced three times now and has sworn never to marry again.  He's busy with work but if I go to Oregon to visit with our oldest brother and his wife I will check to see if he's at home or on the road for work and if he's home, I will stop in for a day or so.

He just started dating again and told me a few weeks back that he can't believe the women he's going out with  all want to know why he won't consider marriage again, LOL!

I can try.  I am somewhat of a prude, if you will and that is likely due to my Cashew upbringing.  I am no angel and would never claim to be, but I do draw the line and have left theaters when something upsets me be it sexual or just freaking weird/disgusting.

It's not that I do not think women are wonderful, beautiful creatures but the sex in cinema and now on TV kinda offends me.  It should be private but I understand the "why" of it all.  The character Starlight appealed to me as she initially seemed genuinely nice but it looks like that was not something that was going to continue.  Even with the loss of my faith I continue to not want to view some things.  It's prbabbly funny to some here and I don't mind  that aspect of it all.

I will just fast-forward through parts  that bother me and give it a try to episode 7 of season 1.  Thanks, Kwon!

The Boys Season 2 Casts X-Men's Shawn Ashmore as Lamplighter

The Boys Season 2 has cast X-Men actor Shawn Ashmore as "Lamplighter," the former member of The Seven who also happens to have some big ties to Billy Butcher and The Boys - including why the group first broke up. As Boys showrunner Eric Kripke says, “We were thrilled that Shawn — who is, let’s be honest, an OG superhero — wanted to play the crucial part of Lamplighter. He brings so much depth, menace, and world-weary humanity to this former member of the Seven. And Shawn is a really good guy. We’re grateful to have him join our bloody little family.”

Lamplighter was mentioned several times The Boys season 1. It was his "retirement" from The Seven that opened a space for Starlight to join the team, with inferences that he also made big trouble for The Boys squad.

In terms of powers, Lamplighter is basically The Boys' the parody of DC's Green Lantern, with a pyrokinesis staff that lets him harness open flames and wield them. It's a nice send-up of Ashmore's famous role as Iceman in the X-Men movies, where his powers were (obviously) the elemental opposite. As Kripke points out, Shawn Ashmore is indeed an "O.G." of superhero movie genre - which is why it's going to be so much fun watching him get to cut loose and satirize the genre in The Boys!

"Lamplighter is a former superstar, a member of the Seven before he left under mysterious circumstances, to be replaced by Starlight. He ties in directly to the Boys' tragic history — he’s actually the reason they broke up 8 years ago. So when he enters their lives again, he dredges up painful memories, pokes at their raw nerves, and changes everything."

Here's the release date info about The Boys season 2, and it's new aftershow, Prime Rewind: Inside The Boys:

"The second season of the Amazon Original The Boys will premiere on Prime Video with the first three episodes on Friday, September 4, and new episodes available each Friday following, culminating in an epic season finale on October 9.

One of the signs that a show is doing very well:

Amazon has ordered the first spinoff TV series for The Boys, and the story details reveal a college setting for the world's next generation of Supes.

Amazon Prime Video is set to expand the universe of their hit series, The Boys, with a spinoff show. Based on the comics by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, Amazon has seen The Boys become a wildly popular series for its streaming service. The satirical take on superheroes pits Hughie Campbell, Billy Butcher, and The Boys against the world's biggest superhero team, The Seven. After the first season was one of Amazon's biggest original pieces of content, season 2 is currently unfolding.

The second season of The Boys has raised the stakes of the series once more. A new weekly episode release format has allowed conversations about the show to continue to grow, leading to increased interest in The Boys. Amazon is aware of the show's popularity, too, as it was already announced that season 3 is in the works. The company also gave The Boys its own after-show for season 2 hosted by Aisha Tyler. With interest in The Boys growing, Amazon is doubling-down on its superhero property.

According to Variety, Amazon is fast-tracking a spinoff series for The Boys. The series will be based on America's only college for superheroes run by Vought. The report describes the spinoff as an R-rated series exploring the lives of hormonal and competitive supes competing for contracts to be heroes in the best cities in the country, which will put their physical, sexual, and moral boundaries to the test. Craig Rosenberg is writing the pilot and will serve as showrunner and executive producer, while The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke will also produce.

News of The Boys' spinoff show comes on the heels of season 2, reportedly crushing the performance of the first season. Amazon says the season 2 premiere was the biggest launch ever for one of their original pieces of content. More specifically, season 2 has seen the audience nearly double the views that season 1 did. With that in mind, its no wonder that Amazon is interested in expanding the universe, especially with Kripke, Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and more returning to produce.

As for the approach that The Boys spinoff is taking, the superhero college angle could be a great way to expand and introduce more characters from the comics. One aspect of the source material that The Boys hasn't explored yet is other super teams besides The Seven. However, the spinoff could provide the backstory or origins for younger groups like the Young Americans or Teenage Kix. The latter has already been set up through the main show, but the spinoff could focus on a new generation and introduce some crazier characters from the comics in the process.

One of the biggest questions that come from this news is what the crossover potential will look like. If the spinoff is being fast-tracked, then the first season of it and season 3 of The Boys could be in production simultaneously. Although they likely won't air on Amazon concurrently, this could allow members of The Seven to pop up in the spinoff briefly or some of the new heroes to appear in The Boys. Even though we don't know when the spinoff will be released, perhaps the remaining episodes of The Boys season 2 will provide some teases for what is ahead.

Watched episode 4 season 1 last night. The show is entertaining. Flawed superheros.....what a concept.

The more realistic approach is that they are just flawed humans (we are all flawed) but with superpowers.

Example 1:

Give PrimeSaggy, Moosejay, Tim Fogarty, Pillowtalk, Goodrum, Vince Basile, Shizzo, Uncle Joon, Marty Falcon, SquadFather/Sarcasm, Chad Mower, Wiggs, Queen Vissy, Tbombz, dj181, Groink, Pumpster, Hulkster, Rob Ziruolo, dearth, RK, ialin, Cswol, Soul Crusher, Army of One, me, herne, Fortress, Big Mike Cox, FitnessFrenzy and booty SuperPowers and what would happen?

Would be similar to what happens in the series if not WORSE!

Example 2:

If i had Homolanders Powers, i would not care what the public thinks of me and i would go to town with all the MENA-countries.

Pillowtalk would break out of jail and rape every youngster in sight.

Moosejay (if he had Translucents powers) would grease up his nephew all the time (since he would be invisible)

Wiggs (with Black Noirs powers) would wipe out all whiteys

G_Thang would hit all dime piece trannies and then wipe out all blacks (Mixed would be the ruling class)

Falcon would eat all grass clippings and sea salt on Earth.

If Big Mike Cox had A-trains Powers (superspeed), no ass would be left unturned, since he would pump and dump in big booties all over the world before you could finish a sentence

Season 2 has been fantastic so far, this is has been a great series!

Scott watch the series you'll lose your mind at the reveal in episode 6 of the new season.

I am off this week for doctor stuff so I will try to watch the rest of season 1 and then start season 2.  I really enjoyed "The Mandelorian" so perhaps I will lilke this one too.

Not sure how this is any different from what I posted. I agree that pretty much everyone has some flaws, superhero or not.

Love this show, but I kinda feel like if it keeps going at this pace, I'll reach my gross out limit some time in the 3rd season. I saw that I commented on the first page about how cool I thought the deaths were in the first season, but  by the last two episodes I was actually thinking "these motherfuckers don't have to show ever goddamn thing."

I also find it hilarious how this is a group of the most wanted people in the country and their idea of keeping it lowkey is meeting in public parks and crowded subways with no disguise.  Also, Homelander's super speed and super hearing sure do come and go at the most narratively convenient times.  But those are minor things. It's still an enjoyable show.

Just binge watched the first 7 episodes of season 2.  Wild stuff.  Stormfront is batsh*t crazy.

I made myself finish season 1 and got through season 2 as far as it goes.

They are going to turn this into a hate whitey thing. I hope I'm wrong.  I could do without the gratuitous sex stuff but I have no problem with bad guys getting killed.

Seth Rogen can fuck off to Sheol for all I care. Hopefully he will be strolling in West Hollyweird and some downtrodden A-Train wannabe will come along and sucker-fuck him.

I have zero problem with most of the characters.  Stuffing a Zagnut down BlackNoirs throat was funny.  Stormfront looks exactly like a very beautiful young Jewish woman I dated decades ago.  Maybe it was the actress' mom?  ;D  Her impassioned tirade on the destroying of their culture is spot on.  If given by a supe of colour it would have left wet spots on the seat under Rogen's anus.

Black people should be pissed about the destruction of  their culture as Americans.  cRap is fucking up the legacy of great musicians like Ellington.  cRap and hippity-hop are a disgrace to the genius of black American composers and musicians.  Auto-tune is for twatlings.  WTF with cacuasionals and their fascination with cRap?  Oh yeah...They hate themselves.

I digress.  For Straw and others of his inbred ilk, that means I am slightly off topic.  Fuck you manlet morons.

The Boys is enjoyable but again, I fear Rogen and Co. will turn it into a PC Fuckwit Feastival of hate for white people just because they are white.

It's about if normal/bad people (people like you and me!) were given powers

What would they do?

I know it’s really not about super heroes like Marvel or DC. Just the fact that it had super heroes was immediately off putting.

If u was given super powers, I’d likely try to destroy the 8” kielbasa of peace.

Regular Superheroes in movies/series rarely show all human emotions and feelings.

Rarely are they Jealous, Petty, Egoistic, Hateful, Angry, Scared, Depressed etc, it's all about saving the day and doing what's best for everyone.

Normal people are more multifaceted than that.

Give 100 random people superpowers and you would see crazy things happen, which you see in the show.

Banks would be robbed, People would be abducted, killed, property would be destroyed etc...

Just watch at the Roadrage regular people can get, or those that kill eachother over the newest Jordans or KFCs

It's funny you should say this. I was talking to someone just yesterday about how this show was actually most effective as a horror show. It obviously straddles a lot of genres (humor, action, etc), but one of the things it does best is make you feel this low level sense of dread for what might happen to characters when homelander is around.  A lot of the deaths are as graphic as anything you would see in a decent horror movie.

How do you think Homelander and/or Stormfront will be defeated providing it ends hat way?

I'm guessing that they will destroy each other as per Hughie's pre-conceived plan.

I'm also thinking that Hughie's and Starlight's relationship will not end well.

And the conclusion of Season 2 will end by high-lighting some mystery concerning Homelander's  son! Will he be a good or bad Super-Kid!?

In the first episode it was pretty cool when A-train ran right through the girl and all you saw was blood. I could see how there are many aspects of horror. But, as you said, straddles many genres. I really prefer straight horror/thriller. Maybe Ill give it another go.

He would swim and communicate with the other Denizens of the Delta waterways, breathing through his kielbasa which would skim the surface like a prehensile periscope but instead of seeing, it's purpose would be twofold:  breathing and acting as a "lure" for married male caucasionals to be lured to his lair of licentiousness and be buggered thilly.

Really?  I thought nearly everyone could and I would see all the kids I knew when I was a child, black and white, swimming in the lakes during summer but I didn't dare try.

I can't really swim for weird reasons although I could kinda "body-surf" but would NEVER go out much higher than my waist as I am afraid of drowning. Same with "snorkling" in the ocean.  I always had someone with me or watching closely.

DAVE D, Somehow I got lost during the final moments of the Season 2 episode.....

Who is the female that is apparently responsible for the exploding heads and what part did she play earlier .... and is she the person who is running for some political office at the end.

Full details on that individual would be appreciated.

One final question ... It appears that Stormfront lost her arms and feet ... but is still alive. Is it possible that she will recover?

It's Alexandria Ocasio Cortez. (of the Boys)

Homelander even made remarks on her dancing in an earlier episode. (Season 2 Episode 5)

Storm Front = Margaret Sanger (Planned Parenthood Founder)

Vought International = Planned Parenthood

Sanger increasingly appealed to the societal need to limit births by those least able to afford children. The affluent and educated already limited their child-bearing, while the poor and uneducated lacked access to contraception and information about birth control. Here she found an area of overlap with eugenicists. She believed that they both sought to "assist the race toward the elimination of the unfit.

In July, 2020, Planned Parenthood of Greater New York announced their intention to rename the Planned Parenthood headquarters on Bleecker Street, which was named after Sanger. This decision was made in response to criticisms over Sanger's promotion of eugenics. In announcing the decision, Karen Seltzer explained, "The removal of Margaret Sanger's name from our building is both a necessary and overdue step to reckon with our legacy and acknowledge Planned Parenthood's contributions to historical reproductive harm within communities of color."

Adding a "Like" to a Goodrum-video

Posting on Getbig without adding (No Homo) at the end

Praising Tbombz encounters (and thusly, pushing Tbombz to venture further down the rabbithole)

Sarah Tither-Kaplan is one of five women who, in interviews with The Times, accused Franco, 39, of behavior they found to be inappropriate or sexually exploitative.

Four were his students, and another said he was her mentor.

In some cases, they said they believed Franco could offer them career advancement, and acquiesced to his wishes even when they were uncomfortable.

“I feel there was an abuse of power, and there was a culture of exploiting non-celebrity women, and a culture of women being replaceable,” said Tither-Kaplan, who was one of many women who took to Twitter on Sunday night to vent anger over Franco’s win and his support of Time’s Up, the initiative combating sexual misconduct in Hollywood.

She told The Times that in a nude orgy scene she filmed with Franco and several women three years ago, he removed protective plastic guards covering other actresses’ vaginas while simulating oral sex on them.

As part of Tither-Kaplan’s experience in the Sex Scenes class, she and her partner created a short film, “Hungry Girl,” which shows her topless and was uploaded to the video-sharing website Vimeo. Last year, she discovered images from the film on at least one pornography website.

In 2014, he used Instagram to ask a 17-year-old British girl he’d met outside a New York theater if she had a boyfriend and whether she was 18.
Even after learning her age, he asked for the name of her hotel and if he should rent a room.

After that episode became public, Franco apologized on ABC’s “Live! With Kelly and Michael.” “I’m embarrassed, and I guess I’m just a model of how social media is tricky,” he said. “I used bad judgment and I learned my lesson.”

Hilary Dusome, 33, who took a class from Franco in 2012, said that at first, she found him to be "a really generous spirit" eager to help aspiring actors.

Her feelings shifted after being selected to appear, with a handful of other female students, in what she thought was one of Franco’s “art films.” Natalie Chmiel, the other student, said she was told the footage would be used in a 7 For All Mankind jeans commercial.

Both women described what they considered to be an unprofessional and hostile shoot at a strip club.

Katie Ryan, who met Franco at Playhouse West and took several classes at Studio 4, said the actor “would always make everybody think there were possible roles on the table if we were to perform sexual acts or take off our shirts" in his projects.

She said that for years, she received mass email requests from Franco to audition for roles playing "a prostitute or a hooker."

I got it in my head pretty quickly that, OK, you don’t say ‘no’ to this guy.

Sarah Tither-Kaplan

Violet Paley, 23, told The Times that when she met Franco in early 2016 she was eager to become a filmmaker and that he had been willing to give her notes on her script.

They had begun a romantic relationship when she said he pressured her into performing oral sex on him — an act she’d never done with him at that point — while sitting in her car.

“I was talking to him, all of a sudden his penis was out,” said Paley. “I got really nervous, and I said, ‘Can we do this later?’ He was kind of nudging my head down, and I just didn’t want him to hate me, so I did it.”

These two Hollywood guys have been close friends for a pretty long time and are most likely entirely aware of each other's sexual episodes...... and they will remain to be good friends but are simply adhering to good, professional advice as is often done  within the movie making industry in order to protect that movie making industry.

Yup.  They think they're only selling their hole, but in the process they lose their soul.  Hollyweird eats women and to a lesser degree, men.  Kids too.  Pedowood is disgusting.  Seth Rogen and Franco can smoke pig wang and go the hell.

‘The Boys’ Planet Vought Pop-Up Restaurant Coming to Hollywood

The drive-thru restaurant will only be open for a few days.

Dubbed a drive-thru restaurant, the limited-time event opens from June 4-6 at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles. Amazon promises the utmost effort has been poured into this pop-up, revealing every little detail is not only accurate to the television series, but facilitates a storyline of its own for fans to experience for the first time. People will have to stay in their cars in accordance with COVID-19 protocols, but it still seems Amazon is pulling all the stops to ensure this is a “diabolical” one-of-a-kind event.

Those familiar with The Boys will not only instantly recognize the Planet Vaught name, but its importance to the world-building in the series. In a familiar reality where capitalism has infected every facet of the superhero industry, the Vaught corporation exploits its heroes for maximum profit. Reflecting the modern superhero movie boom, in-world films featuring those heroes are frequent and the evil company further capitalizes by opening on-brand food businesses, not unlike what people experience at amusement parks. The restaurant itself also plays a vital part in a particular scene from the latter portion of Season 2. It’s safe to say fans can expect to see many similarities when they dine at the real-life version of the food joint.

While fans dine at the event, Amazon is hard at work making the third season happen in Toronto, Canada. The main cast returns, while Jensen Ackles joins the series as Soldier Boy, an infamous superhero from the comics that is bound to shake up the adaptation in big, probably disturbing ways. Showrunner Eric Kripke has already teased the highly-anticipated “Herogasm” storyline will be adapted to the small screen, but do not be alarmed, the contents of that narrative won’t be part of the fan experience taking place in Hollywood.

Amazon has yet to provide an official release date for Season 3, but viewers can watch The Boys Seasons 1-2 now on Amazon Prime. Reserve your spot for the Planet Vaught pop-up restaurant here.

The Boys casts 3 new superheroes: Meet Supersonic, Gunpowder, and Blue Hawk

The superhero hunters of The Boys are going to be dealing with some new costumed creeps in season 3. You've already heard about Soldier Boy, the Captain America-like icon who will be played by Supernatural's Jensen Ackles. But on Wednesday, Amazon announced three more castings: Sean Patrick Flannery, Nick Wechsler, and Miles Gaston Villanueva.

Villaneuva (Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders) will play Supersonic. Internet rumors suggest this character might be an ex-boyfriend of Starlight (Erin Moriarty), but there's no official word yet on either his story or his superpowers. "Supersonic" could be the name of a speedster, but given that A-Train (Jessie T. Usher) already exists, maybe it'll be more of a sonic scream power in the style of Black Canary or Black Bolt.

Flannery (The Boondock Saints) will play Gunpowder. His super name sounds like he'll be focused on weapons, though Flannery himself has a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, so maybe he'll be throwing hands as well.

Finally, Wechsler (Revenge) will be playing Blue Hawk. All three of these characters are original creations, not found in The Boys comics by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. So the possibilities are wide open! We know that season 3 will focus a lot on Soldier Boy and his old superhero team Payback - referred to as "the Seven before the Seven" by showrunner  Eric Kripke - so maybe they're former members of that team. Or maybe they all have different roles in the wide world of Vought-enhanced superheroes.

We'll just have to wait and see; The Boys season 3 has begun filming, but no premiere date has been announced yet.

The Boys Presents: Diabolical

March 4

The Boys is just as outrageous in animated form.

By revealing a March 2022 premiere date for The Boys Presents: Diabolical, Amazon Prime Video delivered a first look and some new details from the animated anthology spin-off series.

The show will consist of eight episodes running about 12-14 minutes each. So, it's not a whole lot to chew on, but it will open up the universe of The Boys a bit to tell new stories.

Each episode will also feature a different animation style. A new clip premiering Tuesday gives us a peek at one of them.

Never read the comic book or heard of it before.

This show is pretty wild.

I just re-upped a couple months ago.  Always heard how great "Dexter" was so I am making my way through that (it has live up to the hype and I'm only on season 4), and Mr. D (which is funny as fuck)  There's another show people have mentioned on here as being really great....can't remember the name, but I see it every time I log in on my tv.  Never heard of this one, but will check it  out.  I don't have NetFlix, but I feel like Amazon has some of the best original shows.  Bosch was great, and The Tick had me rolling in laughter at times.

"A spin-off of The Boys, titled The Boys: Varsity, will likely come out before Season 4—and will tie-in with the events of Season 3.
A spin-off of The Boys, now titled The Boys Presents: Varsity, or, simply, Varsity, was ordered back in 2020 and is currently filming. Varsity has been described as a college-themed spinoff of The Boys, and the official description says that the show will be set at "Godolkin University School of Crimefighting," a school run by Vought, where the young adult Supes will be tested in Hunger Games-style challenges; the show is also said to have "all the heart, satire, and raunch of The Boys."

In an interview with Deadline, The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke made it clear that the two shows will be happening in conjunction with one another.

I didn't really feel like it was done in a way like we have to have an lgbtq character and didn't tick the boxes for the woke crowd.

He is a good character.  He is in the show "Warrior" too.  That' s a good one.

Another woke thing in Banshee is the women who kick the men's butts all the time.

Just noticed Warrior is made by the same people as Banshee.

The 21st annual VES Award nominees have been revealed, and include The Boys Season 3 premiere episode "Payback" which features an infamous scene where Termite, uhh... expands in a place where he shouldn't have done that.

I still have 2-3 episodes left to watch of "The Boys" in season 3......I kind of lost interest but I will check them out once my enthusiasm for the show returns.

I have a tendency to watch 3-4 seasons of some series then I seem to lose interest.

Same. This happened to me with walking dead, lost, house of cards.

I did follow Sopranos and Game of Thrones all the way through.

Has anyone watched the spinoff Gen V on Amazon yet?  3 episodes now up.  Worried it could be more woke.

Also Bonus Tip:  Norwegian movie on Netflix called The Trip.  Dubbed in English, very GetBig.  About a husband and wife who are both trying to kill each other.  You won't be disappointed.
