Fat adaptation
« on: January 19, 2019, 08:36:42 AM »
Was listening to the Mark Bell Power Project podcast with guest Mark Sisson. I agree with a lot of what he says except when he starts going on about fat adaptation and how going on keto teaches your body to burn fat. It makes no sense. Let’s say you eat 250 grams of carbs a day. That’s 1000 cal. What exactly is your body burning for the rest of the calories that make up your BMR?

You don’t need to teach your body how to burn fat. It does it automatically. Fat is the bodies’ fuel source for low intensity activity; carbs, for high. It’s as simple as that. You are not going to be burning fat when you get close to your VO2Max no matter how many fucking keto cookies you eat.

That’s why Phinney and Volek did their study at 65% VO2Max. They knew fat burning would fall off a cliff if they sped up the treadmill.

My apologies for this training thread😔
